True story. The day I arrived in Elmira, NY I was met at the airport by "Broadway Charlie Wagner". Dressed as only he could be. On the drive to the hotel, he told me something, it was the only story he told me. He said "Remember this. When you are shagging batting practice, guys watch. Do you pick up the balls around you or not? Are you so important that you can leave them laying around for someone else to pick up? Stuff like that matters". I didn't realize at first how profound the lesson was. Scouts watch the stuff you don't think twice about because in those moments they get to see "inside" your mind in a way no stat would ever reveal.
