@benCBai@therealkamba@elonmusk@JessePeltan China, in its 5000 years of history, has ALWAYS had an authoritarian, centralized governance structure. So, no, it is not an experiment โnewer than the USAโ.
It makes no sense for it to adopt a western style democracy.
The best form of government is benevolent dictatorship.
@KarmSumal itโs by design. CBC and mainstream news that boomers still listen to is funded by govt. need grassroots effort and people to pay attention to alternative media sources
@SteveSaretsky 1. the xiongan project isnโt completed yet
2. it takes a few decades to move tens of millions of people into a new city
would encourage you to take a trip to china to see the on-the-ground truth for yourself. a lot of these news stories are untrue if you simply use some logic
@TheLongInvest@MonkEchevarria need clearer thinking on this. Chinaโs economy is resilient, but we are entering a time when foreign brands will not be doing as well in China due to very aggressive domestic competition. You can see this in Apple, Nike, and EL. Chinese are preferring local.
@paulg similarly, when people start saying things, or doing things ironically, and then it just becomes who they are. For example, many people used to say "bro" ironically to make fun of "frat bros", but now it's just common and unironic.
Is there a word for this? Post-irony?
