Speaking at today's staff fellowship at the Mayuge District headquarters, the Bishop of Busoga Diocese, Rt. Rev. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Grace Lubaale, called on public officers to be grateful for their positions and to serve as dedicated stewards, drawing inspiration from Mark 4:4.
Today I joined stakeholders from government, civil society, development partners, employers, workers, religious institutions, and academia in commemorating the 2026 World Day Against Child Labour at Bugadde Primary School in Mayuge District.
The event was held under the theme, “Accelerating Action to End Child Labour: Dignity and Full Potential of Every Child.”
The commemoration provided an opportunity to reflect on progress made, challenges encountered, and lessons learned in the fight against child labour, while renewing our commitment to protecting children's rights and promoting social justice. Child labour continues to deprive millions of children worldwide of their childhood, education, dignity, and future opportunities.
In Uganda, the situation remains concerning, with about 6.2 million children aged 5–17 engaged in child labour by 2021. The problem is more prevalent in rural and poorer communities. The event highlighted the need for stronger collective action to eliminate child labour and ensure every child enjoys a safe, healthy, and productive future.

Ahead of the scheduled inauguration on Monday, 18th May 2026, the outgoing Mayuge District Chairperson, Bishop Frank Tibagendeka (right), has formally handed over the instruments of power to the Chief Administrative Officer, Mr. Batambuze Abdu.
Today, I had the honour and privilege of taking the oath as a Women Member of Parliament for Mayuge District at Parliament of Uganda. I thank the Almighty Allah for His grace and guidance throughout this journey.
I extend my deepest gratitude to the people of Mayuge who entrusted me with this responsibility through their votes, confidence, and unwavering support. Your trust is both a great honour and a solemn responsibility that I do not take lightly.
As we begin this new term, I reaffirm my commitment to serving with integrity, dedication, and patriotism. I will continue working tirelessly to advance service delivery, support government programmes, promote national unity, empower our communities, and improve the livelihoods of our people.
Together, we shall focus on creating more opportunities for the youth, strengthening infrastructure, improving social services, and building a stronger and more prosperous nation for all Ugandans.
I call upon all citizens to remain united, peaceful, and committed to the development of our country as we embark on this new chapter together.
May God bless you all, and may God bless Uganda.
Today, Director General Health Services, Prof. Olaro Charles, handed over essential tools to our CHEWs at the district HQs. Describing them as the 'engine' of basic service delivery, he urged to use these resources to boost their work while ensuring they are well-maintained.
I had the honour of representing the Republic of Uganda at the High-Level Event commemorating the International Day to Combat Islamophobia, held on 16 March 2026 at the United Nations General Assembly Hall in New York.
During the meeting, I reaffirmed Uganda’s firm commitment to combating all forms of religious intolerance and discrimination. I highlighted the growing concern of Islamophobia globally, which continues to manifest through hate speech, stigmatization, discrimination and acts of violence against Muslim communities, often amplified by misinformation and digital platforms.
I called for strengthened international cooperation, including the development of robust legal and policy frameworks to prevent discrimination based on religion or belief, improved mechanisms for reporting and addressing hate crimes, and greater investment in education to promote mutual respect, tolerance and intercultural dialogue.
I also underscored Uganda’s long-standing tradition of religious tolerance and cultural diversity. Guided by our Constitution, which guarantees freedom of worship, Uganda continues to promote interfaith dialogue, peaceful coexistence and unity within diversity as a foundation for social cohesion, peace and stability.
The meeting brought together leaders and representatives from across the world, all expressing concern over the rise in religious intolerance. We collectively reaffirmed our shared responsibility to uphold human dignity, equality and the right of every individual to freely practice their religion.
Uganda remains committed to working with the international community to advance inclusive, peaceful and respectful societies for all.
