The tragic death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar in the captivity of bandits is a heartbreaking national tragedy and a stark reminder of the urgent security challenges facing our country.

It is disturbing that a man who dedicated his life to serving and defending Nigeria could become a victim of banditry. His death should not be treated as just another statistic but as an answer wake-up call for stronger and more decisive action against those terrorist bandits and all those behind them.

May Allah forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, comfort his family and bring lasting peace and security to our nation. Ameen.

I had even intended to record a video reminding us of our deafening silence while gallant men who fought for us, like Rabe and his family, remain in detention, only to receive this news now. If a Kano State-owned commercial airline is established and properly managed, it could become a significant driver of economic growth for our state and the wider Northern region. I once had a conversation with a friend from Niamey, Niger, who told me that whenever he wanted to travel to Kano by air, he sometimes had to fly with Air Cote d’Ivoire via Lagos or use Ethiopian Airlines because of the lack of direct connectivity.

With Kano’s strategic location, commercial strength and historical ties with neighboring countries such as Niger, Chad and Cameroon, a well-run state airline could boost trade, tourism, investment and regional integration.
