The NCRC, in collaboration with UNDP Pakistan under the Huqooq-e-Pakistan II Project, funded by the European Union, conducted a workshop with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Labour Department on Monitoring Child Labour. The training aimed to strengthen the capacity of labour inspectors and enforcement officials to apply child-sensitive inspection approaches, improve documentation and evidence collection and ensure effective coordination and referral of children engaged in labour to relevant protection and rehabilitation services.
Sessions covered the applicable child labour legal framework, identification of hazardous and non-hazardous work, inspection procedures in informal and hard-to-reach settings, and coordination mechanisms among labour, social welfare, child protection and district administration authorities. Moreover, apart from domestic legal frameworks, participants were also sensitised on international obligations, such as the role of labour inspections in advancing business and human rights standards and Pakistan’s GSP+ commitments.
