honestly I don't understand why @framer can't just add a review system back
in the era of noise/slop, taste and quality are crucial.
yes, manual review takes time, not everyone gets in, yes, that's exactly the point.
there was a culture of high quality design and taste before. it was lost when the gates opened to 7K+ new templates.
I get it business wise it doesn't make sense to hire a team just for this but damn there are solutions.
get your best creators -> make a jury -> create a queue.
Everyone in the jury can remix any entry for free and submit a review/scoring system in the course of 7 days. If there are no major issues and the entry gets a good score in different categories (Design, Responsiveness, Framer best practices, Accessibility, etc.) then it can be published. Jury members are added or removed by Framer team.
Use your community, don't abandon it @jornvandijk
After a lot of thought, I've decided to step away from Framer templates.
I wanted to give it as much time as possible, but despite the changes, things have never recovered since the new marketplace.
Template sales have dropped by over 70% (-$30,000/m) and is getting worse month on month and as we've seen on X over the last few months, the alignment with the creators has shifted too.
So I've had to make the decision to move on.
It's a sad way to end after 3 years, especially considering how creator-centric Framer were, but that's business.
Stay tuned.
agree but tbh we're in a developer bubble. Sanity has 0.19% marketshare , Webflow has lots of enterprise clients but still 1.9% and Wordpress the blog engine from 2003 has 41%.
while I also prefer the modern stack we can't deny that wordpress is still a good option and can also be made headless, even ACF or React blocks
@iumarmirza @islam_designs @jornvandijk ask AI yourself maybe I'm biased, lol. and when you wake up maybe build a real product and stop clickbaiting and bashing other builders.
apologies don't mean anything if the attitude does not change. owning your mistakes also means learning from them.
he's bashing framer and posting ragebait and clickbait stuff while his own tool wouldn't exist without framer.
and he's acting like his tool is the next Space X when in fact its an AI wrapper with some extra instructions that you arguably might not need at all. can take whatever AI and ask it to convert a site and you might be fine with that, lol.
you're young and it shows in a really bad way mate. unprofessional and disrespectful.
keep the enthusiasm but build some character, be a lot more humble and respectful towards the community as a whole. stop with the spam, the dumb bold claims, clickbait and such..it's not funny. you're gaining lots of attention but trust me most of the community would not want to work with you :)
stay humble, stay hungry. if you don't have something constructive or meaningful to say its better to not say anything at all.
@Imaaronmoody@darylginn damn this brings back memories. I dont even remember the forum name I was young.. but SOTD, SOTW, finding brushes and good renders to make a nice signature and the smudge tool..
@sofianedesign depends. solid logo & brand identity can be minimal.
its the company that makes a logo stand out not the other way around.
vercel has basic triangle as their logo, linear a circle with some lines, lovable is a rotated heart.
don't overthink the logo just build a great product
@darylginn looks amazing
I'd extend even more with accounts, bookmarks, so you can curate your own collection. similar to https://t.co/bHFfA7B8AJ pro subscription if you're looking to generate some revenue as well
"the marketplace feels more of an addition to the community rather than it's own thing like before"
👆this.
and I don't like the layout - it looks too much like a blog, not a marketplace.
lacks clarity. it's very easy to get lost in the amount of thumbnails/template visible. categories are super small very easy to miss.
would also need tags and better search overall.
and if we talk about the fact that you can copy paste publish a template and it will be live for hours if not days if not weeks before Framer takes it down...ugh.
and who's responsible if a customer buys a scam template? something that doesn't match description?
overall a bad direction IMO.
before, the marketplace felt curated, exclusive. now I wouldn't trust it as a buyer or a maker.
new template Lauvent just dropped on the marketplace - link below.
