NEARLY 1 OUT OF 3 (60,000 EMPLOYEES) AT MICROSOFT BEING OFFERED VOLUNTARY TERMINATION

Emails should be going out any minute to those receiving the offer.

Absolutely insane.

@BasqueOli Both the Suebi and Visigothic kingdoms succumbed to the same malady: internal divisions. Neither kingdom was able to eliminate the tribal remnants —which even the Romans had failed to eradicate—.

These indigenous peoples outlasted the Germanic invaders.

Talkie obviously needs to be trained on more data, but it also doesn’t have a system prompt. If you ask it the current date, it may change. It told me 1910, I’ve seen others end up with 1860.

[Olly Bosque @BasqueOli]

Talkie does consider Italians and Irish White. It is hyper focused on the Caucasian category though. So, it also considers Middle Easterners to be White.

Map of Europe’s faith in 1900

[Olly Bosque @BasqueOli]

@Celandinehbd When I ask it for the current date it keeps saying 1910. It definitely needs to be trained on more data.

If Trump had lost in 24, it only would’ve emboldened the “traditional” wing of the Republican Party. Trump winning meant that MAGA was here to stay. I’m not convinced that Trump losing would’ve pressured Republicans to listen more to their base. It would’ve been the opposite

[Daily Mail @DailyMail]

The Bush family are determined to bring down Trump - even if it means turning Texas blue to achieve it: 'It's political civil war' https://t.co/Cma8IfMLl5

[Olly Bosque @BasqueOli]

@utogg A goal of the talkie model is to try and see if it can independently arrive at scientific discoveries and inventions. Really, I'm talking about it like it's a time capsule. Talkie will give different answers than most other models, due to the time period it was trained on.

I wonder if a vintage LLM trained on pre-1938 data could’ve predicted the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact. If Hitler had decided to go in a different direction, most historians would probably be stating that he was too uncompromising and bigoted to have struck a deal with Communists.

[Olly Bosque @BasqueOli]

@utogg I did not say that they were future-predicting oracles.

[Olly Bosque @BasqueOli]

@readynafewdays I think Hungary being in the South German state was to try to keep it out of Soviet influence. If that somehow did end up happening, I wonder if it would've just split off later like Slovakia in Czechoslovakia.

[Olly Bosque @BasqueOli]

“For that to happen, that would require the Nazis to not be Nazis.” We hear this all the time. The same thing would definitely be said for a Soviet-German pact if these types had the opportunity.

[Olly Bosque @BasqueOli]

Even beyond that, after the pact, would it have predicted the German invasion of the Soviet Union? I feel like it would give a higher chance on that.

"During the development of a platypus foetus, they do temporily start to grow teeth which are soon re-absorbed into the skull. This is an interesting reverse of what most animals do – to have babies with no teeth and then adults with teeth."

[Olly Bosque @BasqueOli]

Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s discovered that monotremes lasted much longer in South America.

🚨NEW STUDY DROP🚨

Fossil teeth belonging to the toothed platypus genus, Obdurodon, have been described from a deposit from New South Wales dating to.....the Pleistocene! All previous specimens were from Oligocene to Miocene! Ultimate Ghost Lineage!

Wow.

For context, this is talkie, a LLM trained only on text written before 1930, I'm running it locally.

Removed all of the samsung spyware from my TV with Codex (Claude refused to root the tv lol)

It's insane how much bloat samsung packs into their TVs to track you and sell your data. Here's just some of what I turned off that made my tv 3x faster:

- screenshot your screen a few times a second to see what you're streaming and fingerprint you to sell your data
- reading your hdmi inputs to do the same thing while you have a game console plugged in
- Voice assistants: Bixby wake-word detectors listening and tracking what you say in your house

Before and after speed of my TV:
