What Helium did: prove product market fit for proof-of-coverage (a VERY special case of proof-of-physical-work).

What Helium didn't do: prove LPWAN is a useful network.

VZ/ATT launched LPWAN networks in 2019, and nobody uses those either. It's not a Helium-specific issue.
