Balsa wood is used as a key component in wind turbine blades. The Amazon rainforest – the lungs of the Earth, is being destroyed to supply balsa wood for wind turbines - with a devastating impact on the indigenous people of the Ecuadorian Amazon. How is this ‘saving the planet’?

Thames Water shows two fingers to customers.
Having spent decades ram raiding customers bank accounts for billions £, loaded the company with £19bn in debt, demanding another £3bn in debt, dumped billions of litres of sewage into rivers, over abstracted chalk streams they’re now demanding and appealed to the CMA that they should be allowed to increase bills by 53%
We’ve been had!!!

@abimr13@drphiliplee1 And hope to buy a course of amoxicillin to have ready, so you may bypass the local GP who is set on prescribing statins whatever your symptom and messes up blood tests. 😡 and you don’t have to call 111 for prescription! No wonder A&E are over run.
So are Labour now saying if I go into a pub & get asked about women’s rights in sport because males are being allowed to cheat in races for women … I might be arrested or asked to leave for offending their work force! Bloody hell labour are going utterly bonkers
"Thames Water says it will raise base pay of bosses if Ofwat limits bonuses."
A 5 year old could have told you that's exactly what will happen and to believe otherwise would be deeply, deeply naive.

"Thames Water plans to hike bosses’ pay in response to bonus caps." They were warned, I for one warned them.
@SouthWestWater's CEO didn't get a bonus last year but did accept a whopping £300,000 pay rise.
Banning bonuses is nothing but a sign of regulatory failure and ineffectual, cheap political posturing.

"Revealed: Thames Water diverted ‘cash for clean-ups’ to help pay bonuses."
In 2023 @Thameswater underspent their environmental obligation to the @EnvAgency by £1.1bn. Now we know why. They used some if not all of that money for other company costs including bonuses and dividends.
That £1.1bn formed part of the WINEP programme, a legally binding commitment to the @EnvAgency to deliver a certain number of clean up projects by 2025.

@SPAB1877 No way! Until Chandon is spared the @nationaltrust plan to ‘modernise’. An NT member until the wrecking of Sudbury. They are doing similar at Berrington, while the building crumbles. Shocked at @SPAB support for blatant flouting of @national trust remit. #bbcnews pm.
Here's how the water industry works. In the year that your company posts a huge loss you still manage to pay shareholders £125m in dividends and give your CEO a £300,000 pay rise and even that's after poisoning a whole town.
And @Ofwat does what exactly?
