Hey! I've started a Substack. This was motivated by an urge to respond to the latest Triple J Hottest Australian 100 by comparing it with the Australian content of the very first all-time Hottest 100 in 1989. Niche, I know. Don't worry, it is not grumpy. https://t.co/x1U2sVkhFN
Hey @Audible_AU - first screenshot is my library, second screenshot is the new books you say I'll "love". Tell me: would your algorithm show these books to a male subscriber? No shade on the books, but I don't see how you join those dots without hamfisted gender profiling.
I was asked if I was prepared for a “No” result; I said we already live in “No”. We’ve been told “No” for 200+ years. The High Court told Yorta-Yorta “No” in 2002; I was there. I’d sooner try “Yes” or even, “Of Course”.
@Milo_Fluffy I feel like the loss is more tolerable because England were not clearly moral victors in this test. What with catch claiming and not returning a clearly unfair ball to the umpires even though the umpires ruled it was ok. Plus it’s harder to morally win when you literally win.
@Milo_Fluffy Yeah an England supporter at work was telling me Australia was on top and I assumed she was trying to reverse psychology the universe and told her to stop her evil spell.
@_jbradley@SotoAlfred There was an NME review of a Sade concert back in the day that suggested the audience members should be holding steering wheels...
@JakeWojtowicz Usually there are barriers between the players and opposition fans, no? There’s also something about these people who are so supremely assured of their judgement and right to judge that I doubt they even see their actions as “behaviour”.
