@mchappell51 Since it's post trade deadline, he'll be subjected to waivers. It's entirely possible he'll have those guarantees paid by someone else.
Colts will still be on the hook for the last $8m of accounting for the signing bonus, though.
@mchappell51 Do we know details?
I would expect it guarantees this season (4.5m), 2024 Franchise Tag (10.5m ish) and 2025 Franchise Tag (12m ish) amount. Probably a fully unguaranteed year at the end in 2026 15.5m that he'll never see. Maybe push some of that up now. Buys his next 2 tags.
@mchappell51 The Nick Chubb situation is why it's understandable that JT wants guaranteed money.
The Nick Chubb situation is why it's understandable that the #Colts want to be cautious with giving JT guaranteed money.
Both can be true. It's why Ballard was correct to call it "complicated".
@ShaadMcGinnis Correction:
Former #Colts Gardner Minshew
Former #Colts Jacoby Brissett
Former #Colts QBs Nick Foles and Carson Wentz
Former #Colts QB Phillip Rivers
Former #Colts QB Matt Ryan
Surprised Scott Tolzein and Brian Hoyer emerged unscathed.
@ZachHicks2 The best play for him would have been to work in conjunction with Pittman to get good contracts for BOTH of them since the Colts can only tag one of them in the offseason. THAT'S the only leverage he can generate.
Sleeper #Colts scenario:
They already have a deal in place with #49ers for Lance (not #4). QB needy teams trade up ahead of them, pushing non-QBs down to them.
- Lance was one of two "blue chip" guys on their 2021 board
- No one knew about the Buckner trade before it happened
@ShaadMcGinnis Not sure Richardson should be on equal footing with Stroud if they truly prioritize accuracy over most other attributes like they've been saying.
1) Stroud
2) Young
3) Richardson / Levis
