We are at the 47th @ACERWC ordinary session, a space to advocate for protection of children's rights. We amplify the need for states to put in place administrative & budgetary measures to review & amend the school re-entry guidelines to align with the African Charter.

Magret aged 28,mother of one from Pallisa district, dropped out of school in S.4 due to lack of school fees. She learnt of the tailoring opportunity from a friend who works in Mukono.She is motivated to gain the skill so that she can support her family.

Joyce aged 23, dropped out of school in senior two in 2020 after becoming pregnant during the school holiday. She is now a mother of two boys, hopeful and determined to start her own tailoring business in the future. With @PaulHodgesTrust , we support girls & women skilling.
Our team interacted with learners from Bugolombe PS, Mukono to understand how the school & community is supporting learners to prevent teenage pregnancy, manage teenage pregnancy in schools. Learners believe schools should be free from violence,stigma and discrimination.
Deisy aged 31 is a mother of three children who dropped out of school in P.7 in 2009. Deisy joined our 2026 tailoring program,she hopes the tailoring training will provide her with employable skills to start up a tailoring business after the yearlong training.

This week ,our team visited schools in Mukono to assess progress made in implementing the school re-entry guidelines. Teachers & learners believe that when the school environment is free of stigma and discrimination, adolescent mothers can easily rejoin and continue with school.

Yesterday, together with #SHESOARS partners, we participated in the SRHR advocacy planning meeting led by @SRHRAllianceUg. The meeting provided a platform to strengthen alignment of the CSOs SRHR advocacy priorities with those of Ministries, and government agencies.
