EXPOSED: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reportedly replaced Prof. A. A. Zuru with Prof. Mustapha Aliyu, the elder brother of the Sokoto State Governor, who shares the same father and mother with him, as @inecnigeria's National Commissioner representing the North-West.
The opposition must challenge this appointment and demand transparency and accountability.
@SaharaReporters Absence of visionary leaders, coherent vision and values define who we are, what we do and present as well as how the world perceive us
While one is excited with DG NOA on approaching the value system inform of a social contract between the country and citizens expressed as a charter, this charter must be seen to go through a public discourse, well debated and negotiated. It's must not be a top down thing.
Corruption, bad leadership, lack of patriotism, injustice, insecurity, nepotism etc all thrive because of absence of a shared value system. A country must be responsible to its citizens first as incentive to make citizens fully committed to its country as patriots.
Value System approaching it as a social contract between the country and the citizens is the way to go. If the value system charter is passed in to law, it will outlive any government and will remain the greatest achievement of Mr President.
I listened to the current DG of NOA ( Mallam Lanre Issa) on one and one media chart with Cril Stober on citizens reorientation yesterday. For once, I have been convinced deeply, the DG and the agency is on top to fix our problem of value system much better than in the past.
Public policies are designed for a positive change or impact premised on certain assumptions. Outright reversal of policy such as lifting forex restriction on 43 items may not be the best thing to do but review of the assumptions and making adjustments.
@Imranmuhdz@woye1 It's always good to model impact of any policy change and put measures in place to manage possible chain reactions such as resistance, blackmails, high demand of cements leading to scarcity and high price etc
Cutting avoidable wastes such as unnecessary government appointments, travels, procurement of goods and services, poor articulation of policies, unexemplenary leadership etc may all impart on public confidence about how serious a government may be.
There is a positive correlation between political patronage and cost of governance. High cost of governance erodes value for money for social services and undermines attainment of other government key priorities.
Greatness is achieved by great men whose talents are extraordinary. God, what have we done wrong that getting it right becomes elusive each time we have heightened our hope???
It is a missed opportunity for any govt or country with human resources in abundance incountry & abroad who can easily change its fortune but choose to do otherwise.
Top priorities at all levels
1. Stimulate econ.growth broadening revenue base through reforms on taxation & enhancing capacities of various revenue generating agencies
2. Block potential areas of govt wastages
3. Identify workable models to deliver on govt policies & programs
In embarking on hard policy choices, the needful are
1. Impact modeling of the policies & Strategies to mitigate the negative impacts
3. Effective communication
4. Feeling the pulse of citizens and finally making the essential adjustments
Nigerians love to see a great nation and have the elasticity to make sacrifices. They however, detaste leadership not also willing to do same by example.
The leadership the country desires is that of visionary with capacity to bring down financial waste in public sector to the bearest minimim, result or impact driven, leads by example, ensures equal justice and opportunity for all citizens
The leadership I think the country desires is that which has capacity to harness the best hands, optimizes the independence and collaborative work of 3 arms and 3 tiers of govt and empowers CSOs as the demand organ to hold public institutions accountable.
