President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed the Electricity Bill into law, effectively removing electricity from the Exclusive Legislative List and transferring significant powers over electricity generation, transmission, and distribution to the states.

In simple terms, states can now: Generate, transmit, and distribute electricity independently

Establish state electricity markets and regulators
License private investors without waiting for the federal government

This is a major step toward decentralization, improved power supply, and faster industrial growth—especially for states ready to act.

A big policy shift. Now the real test is which governors will move beyond politics and actually light up their states.

@NigeriaStories They should charge admin fees for their effort (less than 10% of the visa fees) but visa fees should only be paid when visa is successful and being issued.

This should apply to all embassies around the world, as poor countries need to stop funding rich countries.

The following day I landed Glasgow, I found out my passport was missing!!! It was less than 24hrs. I went back to the airport, reported at the police station, called Heathrow etc. the last time I saw it was whole boarding @British_Airways flight from Heathrow to Glasgow.

I am very glad to receive reports of students from across public and private schools in Kwara State posting impressive results in the recently held Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Particularly heartwarming is the result of Master Samuel Olanrewaju Oluwasemilore of Government Secondary School, Omu Aran, who scored 358 in the exam.

I also congratulate the Great 30 (students) from Kwara-based Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Model College, who got between 355 and 300 marks in the exam -- and similar high-performers from other schools in the state. Equally worth mentioning for posterity is the superlative performance of Masters Adeleke Abdulbasit Adekunle of Federal Staff Secondary School (Adewole) who got 363; Olukayode Victor Olusola who scored 362; and Adegoke Oluwatoni Eyiyayo who posted 361.

As a government, we are proud of talk-of-the-town achievements like this; they serve as shining examples for younger ones to work harder, be at their best in their studies, and make their parents and community proud. We commend their parents and their teachers alike for the huge work that resulted in these feats.

We are also excited that these are not isolated successes in our education sector, coming only a few weeks after Kwara State represented Nigeria on the global stage at World School Debate in Singapore, among other feats.

I assure the good people of our state that our administration will continue to beat its own record in this critical sector. Our KwaraLEARN programme is yielding impressive results already, and the state executive council has recently approved statewide coverage for the tech-based learning programme.

The next few years will yield awesome learning outcomes, while we are soon launching a first-of-its-kind Kwara State Education Trust Fund to inject more resources and strengthen accountability in our education sector.
