Four years in, and I'm still blown away by the real impact.
Young Africans who walked into our first meetups unsure are now leading hackathons, launching projects, and lifting each other up.
We've built more than events; we've built belief. Belief that we can own our corner of Web3. Thank you to every builder who made this journey real.
4years in and every single thing Web3 Afrika has built meant a whole lot to me and everyone on the team.
I must say we have done so well and I am here to say congratulations and cheers to year 5, 6, 7, 8 and more.
Happy Anniversary, my community and my Family ❤️ @web3afrika
We are proud of how far we have come, the lives we have impacted and the future we are still building for Africa’s Web3 ecosystem.
From hackathons to IRL meetups, community events, collaborations and countless opportunities created, the journey of Web3 Afrika over the past 4 years has been nothing short of inspiring.
This video captures the vision, the growth and the impact.
Cheers to more innovation, more community and more impact. 🎉
Before Web3 products go live… they get tested first.
Mainnet is the real blockchain where actual value moves.
Testnet is the practice environment where developers experiment safely.
One handles real assets while the other prevents expensive mistakes.
Every serious Web3 product starts with testing before trust.
Four years ago, someone asked:
*"What if we bring Web3 builders to build in Africa too?"*
Today, we have the answer.
Hackathons. Bootcamps. Mentorships. IRL events. Thousands of builders onboarded across the continent.
Watch our founder reflect on the journey: the vision, the grind and what Year 5 holds.
Web3 Afrika is 4. And this is just the beginning.
To every partner, speaker and builder who showed up, thank you. This is your milestone too.
A new week means a fresh opportunity and we are not wasting it.
Whether you are building, learning or connecting, this is your week to show up and lock in. Every move you make right now is adding up to something bigger.
At Web3 Afrika, we are here to grow together and that starts with YOU showing up this week.
Happy New Week
Phew!
A good four years of cross collaboration across Africa and beyond. Glad to be part of a vibrant ecosystem that is pushing upskilling, connections and progress.
Time flies, but we're just getting in there.
Happy birthday @web3afrika
Web3 Afrika is 4 🎉
Four years of building, onboarding and showing up for the African Web3 ecosystem.
This isn't just a milestone. It's a movement.
Here is how we built Web3 for Africans, by Africans 🧵
4 years ago, we started with one belief: Web3 should be built by Africans, not just consumed by us.
Today, that belief is a movement. Grateful for every builder, mentor, sponsor, and partner who showed up.
This is only the beginning. Onward!
Monthly sub scrapped, not sure how that moves tx vol in a price-sensetive market. That was one friction point that made the first premise of the service futile. One player remains in the ring.

This week, I’m releasing a 90-minute conversation with @tonyolendo , Co-Founder and Chief Janitor at @ViFi_Labs.
Tony left a stable, high-income job in Trinidad to go all in on crypto. Before that, he was building across the financial stack. Mobile banking apps, SMS banking, ATMs. Later worked at Coordinape and Polygon. After a defining moment at Polygon, he decided to build ViFi, the first capital-efficient DEX for onchain currencies.
In this episode, we go deep into:
- Onchain FX and why it matters
- The mindset shift from developer to founder
- The impact of Developer DAO on his journey
- Lessons from building ViFi
- Working with regulators and policymakers in Kenya
- The role of stablecoins in local economies
And a lot more.
Podcast out this week!
With https://t.co/lAxValp45d, you can follow public contracts at municipality level, see where the money is flowing, and explore the network behind it through connected entities and contracts.
It's a simpler way to understand who is contracting with whom, where public money is going, and how local spending moves across the network.
