@MarkBlank234@b_miklasz Based on your definition of “bullpen guys or openers,” 95% of the “starters” in MLB would only be “bullpen guys or openers.”
Remember when a “quality start” (6 IP, 3 ER) was mocked as a made-up stat concocted by agents? Nowadays, a quality start is exceptional.
@RedsMusee 1999 Dante Bichette: .298/.354/.541, 34 HR, 133 RBI
-2.3 WAR
No doubt JJ has cooled offensively in the 2nd half, but using dinosaur stats to compare players is 30 years outdated. It’s what led to Mo Vaughn and Juan Gonzalez winning MVPs. We’re not in the 1990s.
@LouRice97@McTileFan@jmontforttx Except you have zero evidence of your initial claim (they did it hastily and couldn’t find it!!!) … besides “trust me bro.”
@LouRice97@McTileFan@jmontforttx lol. I’m using statistics and probability. The most common book in the world by far. And none of them could find one when they wanted one? A lot of mental gymnastics by you to justify them not using one.
@GregIMilner@FirstSpeaker59@luckytran And medicine has wasted millions and millions of dollars to reaffirm this. Literally money burned on dozens and dozens of studies. And billions of dollars in damage … each devastating unvaccinated sickness can easily cost six figures in medical expenses.
@LouRice97@McTileFan@jmontforttx And if you wanted a Bible and hastily wanted to find one, it would take like 10 minutes. The whole point is clearly they didn’t insist on it.
@McTileFan@LouRice97@jmontforttx lol. Indeed, probably the easiest book to find on short notice. The top overall printed book in the history of the world.
@DavidBnClark@DrNeilStone What power did he abuse? He didn’t have any power. He offered the best medical advice at the time. Respiratory viruses necessitate respiratory precautions. Orders came from the “President” and eventually the individual states and counties.
@dukeofmissouri@StevenBibas He’s a RHD (already hard to find) who’s 1) extremely young, 2) has clear offensive upside, 3) still on an entry level contract and 4) displayed clear improvement (offense and defense) while handling first pair minutes and assignments at the end of the season.
@kylejahner@theinsidertruth@jprutherford Plus 72, 10, 55, 26. And 70 was there for most of it too. Perhaps younger players deferring too much to the vets = less assertive play? Who knows.
@OSLeafs@PierreVLeBrun@jprutherford@TheAthletic@nytimes He's not perfect. But you're forgetting he oversaw the Blues return to relevance. Signed Ken Hitchcock. Had some very good teams win at least a round in the playoffs (12, 16, 17) before finally breaking through in 2019. 22 team won a round too. Wasn't a flash in the pan.
@JD90530700@awfulannouncing Because it’s 100% untrue. Fans flocked to Busch until the downturn in play. Routinely 40k for a weekend game pre-Covid. Including during the Michael Brown protests. And the city has only gotten safer since then.
@dwatstl44@PassingDrill They did clearly have a working relationship though. You may recall that it was a big deal when Kerber let John Kelly do the radio play-by-play for the second period in the 2019 Stanley Cup Final. A kind gesture since that was Kelly’s only chance to call the Final.
@TheDylWatt@b_miklasz We've seen flashes of improvement before in past seasons from struggling players (see Paul DeJong). Hopefully the changes have staying power.
@CartmanAJ@jprutherford I'm all for "letting them play" (i.e. not calling ticky-tack crap), but you have to call the egregious stuff. Otherwise it's WWE and not NHL.
