Learning a trade like this takes years of work and, yes, education. You value "formal education", but place no value on informal education. Learning something is becoming educated in something.

Yes, they deserve the money. Many times formal education does not teach you how to do anything productive, so you are valued less in the market, so you are paid less. This is all logical and rational.

@TaraBull The purpose of the nostrils is to warm the air before it hits your lungs (important in cold climates) and to decrease contaminants and bacteria from reaching the lungs. Having three nostrils would be better than two, but one would be worse.

The younger generations of doctors were taught to practice medicine through lab tests, Xrays, CTs, and that sort of thing. There is no substitute for listening to heart tones and lung sounds, so they still do that part. But you are right, there are no real head-to-toe physical exams anymore.

@Esmeray_6 @omgsidewalks Some things have to be memorized. Multiplication tables have to be memorized. The names of the bones in the hand, and the names of the cranial nerves need to be memorized too. Memorization is a part of learning.
