@SwishAppeal In case yall find it useful: an advanced Plus-Minus model for WNBA players, trained on historical league play-by-play data https://t.co/qFmELFE6LS
@A_Jude Teams have thrown more sliders than fastballs to SEA so far this season. No other team is seeing a pitch diet REMOTELY close to this, easiest scouting report in baseball
@tangotiger I'll guess that 7.00 is the cutoff?
In the past 5 seasons — I'm seeing 9 above replacement seasons (by fWAR) with at least 20 starts and an ERA of at least 6.00, and 0 seasons with an ERA of at least 7.00?
@tangotiger If Josh Hader is pitching to you, it probably doesn't make sense to protect for a slider outside near the dirt 0-0, even if it ends up being a strike (since you wouldn't be doing much with it even if you made contact). You go 0-1 & hope that the next random zone is in your favor?
@tangotiger I would think that for both the batter and pitcher, it would make sense to approach each pitch, assuming you have the most advantaged possible version of the strike zone (with the information you have at that point)?
@tangotiger I love how most of these plays end up looking "routine", while the initial reactions from the hitters/pitchers would make you think otherwise
@tangotiger I see - I was looking at home batters because of the sample-variance you get with away pitchers/fielders.
Thanks again for the response, you're probably right in that it's mostly variance. And for fun, here's the abs Home/Away diff by park, for woBA diff
@tangotiger How is it that the Trop has the 5th highest wOBA-xwOBA for the Rays over the past 3 years, despite the Trop being 29th in Statcast park factors? https://t.co/SfNeh5Pbip
@tangotiger Er, I suppose I'm asking how that gap IS explained? Maybe it's variance, but I'm wondering if it's roster construction on TB's side (and if/how park factors account for teams finding advantages with their own parks?)
Appreciate the response!
@AllAcesCards@tangotiger No way he's 'definitely behind' Sale -- don't think Sale has the peak or longevity to have that strong of a case.
Cole is probably the safest pick for #5, since he seems the most likely to rack up enough volume to make the case
@WarriorsMuse On the flip side, Steph has really cut down the 3s during these playoffs, and hasn't taken this many Mid Range shots in more than 8 years
@TheNBACentral Mitchell's explosion in his 3P ISO Frequency doesn't get talked about enough.
Sometime about a year ago, he decided to pump up his ISO rate from ~35% all the way up to nearly 60%
@TheHoopCentral Here's a crazy fact: 100% of LeBron's FGs at the rim have been UNASSISTED
Giannis, Embiid, and Jokic have all been assisted at the rim in multiple games this season in PnR action
