Today, PATH is recognizing #IndigenousPeoplesDay. We are committed to working with our community to end these disparities, which starts with addressing factors like systemic racism and discrimination in housing and employment opportunities.
Meet the Benitez family!🤗 Before connecting with PATH, they were experiencing homelessness after losing their home in a fire. This tragedy led their family to move from a place of comfort and predictability to an unpredictable living situation in a tent in Lincoln Heights.
I want to share a story about the power of the Housing First model — which provides permanent housing to the homeless — and how it’s actively undermined through criminalization efforts and the high cost of housing.
This story takes place in Venice Beach.

Criminalizing homelessness reinforces a vicious cycle that gets us nowhere. I am grateful to be in the company of @StJosephCtr, @LAFamilyHousing, @ssghopics, & @ThePplConcern, sharing best practices on actually reducing homelessness.
Homelessness is a policy failure, not a personal one. Today the LA City Council voted down a proposal to rush people off the streets before building enough housing to meet individuals’ needs. This was the right decision. Our full statement below ⬇️
Happy Monday! This week we are highlighting our outreach staff in Mid-City, San Diego! Thanks to our passionate and hardworking staff, outreach workers like Carla, have helped 1,500 people experiencing homelessness connect to supportive services and housing.
Officials are just over a week into their big downtown push to connect homeless residents to shelters and housing. The operation involving a number of nonprofit partners, the city and county is being coordinated by the San Diego Housing Commission.

Even for people stably housed, accessing a second shot has proven difficult. We need to make the vaccination process easier for our unhoused neighbors and hard-to-reach populations.
Thank you @cmraulcampillo, Vic Vettiyil, and Anthony Hackett from San Diego District 7 for joining our outreach team in the field with @sandiegoriver Park Foundation. Together, we performed our point in time count and distributed food and hygiene kits to our unhoused neighbors.
This post is vulnerable, but we need your help. With the cancellation of in-person Comic-Con in 2021 this morning, Mysterious Galaxy is facing two straight years without our biggest sales days. Festivals, conventions, and conferences play a key part of our business. 1/4
Meet Daniel! Daniel lived on the riverbed for 3 years before he was connected to PATH. When our outreach team met Daniel, they referred him to our Rapid Rehousing Program. Now, he lives in his very own apartment and feels a greater sense of stability. Welcome home, Daniel! 🏡
