Agreed, wellness is a day-to-day battle, some days are better than others, I have some fall back things that always make me happy, like a good iced coffee and bagel. I also find outdoor walks between hospital buildings to be lovely little breaks from the normal day

I've been considering a Roomba purchase for a long time...but living alone and being a surgery resident meant my house didn't get that dirty...so I saved the money for my vacation days and dinners out with friends etc

YES!!!! Honestly, some of the best mentors are outside of your department. Thankfully general surgery residents get to work throughout the hospital and get to meet a lot of people who are great!

A6.2 Otherwise, my program has a mentor-mentee pairing for attendings and interns, which was a great way to get to know an attending. I find that the best mentor relationships come naturally from your personal interactions.

A6.1 Finding a mentor before getting to your intern year can be hard. If you are very interested in research I would recommend looking at some of the recently published projects out of your program and reach out to the authors.
