@BartWronsk @alexjc Depends on what type of latency. Best case is certainly not 100+ cycles. Likely 10-20 assuming a cache hit. Worst case: multiply the latency by roughly 10x for each miss in the cache hierarchy.

@biovf I only have 10+ years, but I don't think this is different from any other technology field. The biggest career lesson for me has always been to never be satisfied with half-answers and keep digging until you fully understand the problem at hand. Even if that means reading RTL.
