@bakudahoe She really said “I hate poor people and I hope they never read ever ever and we should gouge out their eyes” and then she threw a nuke at every third world country :/ like woah ms Smithers slow down
@SUICID3PACT@liteararytea An author must earn out their advance before being paid anything additional so most are unlikely to earn beyond the advance. Multiple books a year is only possible when producing ai generated slop or at the very least unedited slop.
@PomboPalomaRat@balkanwhispers There is definitive evidence that piracy hurts small authors. Copyright laws afford the same rights to small creators as big businesses. Asking small authors to reject practices that protect their work from being stolen by big corporations shows your total ignorance.
@violetsgrimoire This conversation is obviously aimed at western readers who pirate for convenience. Using afghan women to justify your thievery is so weird.
@ImRamudaClone@bokutosayswhaat Traditionally published authors don’t have that kind of control over their books. Indie authors who self publish pay thousands to have their book edited and get it ready to be published. Many ebooks are 99¢. If you must pirate, support those who support piracy.
@arwinhebrim I’m happy to run my mouth to an entitle little thief 🥱 authors don’t make shit from their books and majority of piracy is about convenience. Get your money up, cunt.
@Memoirsepiphany A 30 year old justifying pirating books by bringing up poor rural teenagers.. how disingenuous. There is so much data showing piracy is first and foremost about convenience. Also your tone is so condescending. Calling a woman author “honey” yuck!
@AustinWyckes Being an indie author IS standing up to the system. Indie authors have to foot the bill for editing and usually spend thousands to publish yet typically make very little money off their work. You’re not entitled to read their work and it’s not wrong for them to wannna be paid.
