My daughter came home grinning today because her dad told her, "You're just like your mom."
She said, "Thanks."
Apparently he told her, "Go start the car."
So she went outside, started it, came back in, and sat on the couch.
He asked, "Why aren't you waiting in the car?"
She looked at him like he'd lost his mind.
"Why would I sit alone in a hot car waiting for an adult who's still inside?"
She's 11.
The funniest part is that some adults mistake blind obedience for respect. They get offended the second a kid uses basic logic instead of following pointless instructions.
If being "just like your mom" means raising a daughter who asks why instead of saying "yes, sir" to every ridiculous command, then that's a compliment I'll gladly accept.
A lot of parents don't want respectful kids—they want unquestioning employees.
My divorced self had a good laugh at that one. 😂
maturing is realizing none of us are easy to be with. It's about who's willing to stay committed to understanding you and actually wants to grow with you.
i realized that a lot of adults are healing their inner child and that's one of the reasons why i don't make fun of people who have "childish" hobbies. some people didn't get to have a childhood until they became adults.
