Inaugurated the new advanced Gene translational facility at #CSIR-Institute of Genomics & Integrated Biology #IGIB, New Delhi.
Congratulations CSIR -IGIB, for successfully accomplishing a breakthrough in developing India’s first indegenous therapy for Genetic cure of Sickle Cell Disease.
The therapy is based on #CRISPR technology , that is, “Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats” is a technology for editing genomes, derived from a natural defense system in bacteria. The most common system, CRISPR-Cas9, uses a guide RNA to direct a Cas9 enzyme to a specific location in DNA, which then cuts the DNA. This allows to inactivate, modify, or add to genes with a high degree of precision, with applications in treating genetic diseases, developing new diagnostics, and other research.

Blackout Action Plan is crucial component of civil defense preparedness. Staying calm & prepared during emergencies or hostile situations is key to ensuring national security. Regular drills & awareness of such plans can help citizens respond effectively in critical situations.
🔴 A new initiative by TIFR aims to improve advisor-student relationships by introducing signed statements of roles and responsibilities. This step is crucial for creating a more supportive environment for students and advisors.

The NOA finally arrived! Congratulations to this wonderful team (Drs. Tohru Fukai, Masuko Ushio-Fukai, @bdc_eric, David Fulton, David Stepp and Ralf Lucas) for getting their PPG on endothelial cell metabolism funded. What an achievement! @MCG_AUG@AUG_University
Remarkable work by David Fulton's laboratory on the role of PBK in pulmonary arterial hypertension published in Circulation. Check it out!

Our latest @Nature paper is out! We show that transplanting mitochondria into endothelial cells boosts their ability to form blood vessels in ischemic tissues, with mitophagy as the key mechanism. A potential game-changer for vascular cell therapies. https://t.co/ViscFIc9sv
The mitochondrial protein NDUFS8 plays an essential role in regulating #endothelial cell activation and #angiogenesis.

Can not studying popular genes cost you your career?!
Check out how the probability of a junior scientist to transition to a principal investigator is lower if the genes they research are less studied. The overall decreasing probability is also really depressing! (from Fig. S10)
