@robbiehendricks Robbie - we are based in Austin and have experience in the surrounding tertiary markets. Do you think your friend would be open to partnering with a local operator who has boots on the ground to turn things around?
1- Hamas massacred 1,200 Israelis. Who does Israel blame? Israel formed an investigation committee to examine failure and learn lessons (introspection).
2- Gazans live in nylon tents in the cold, with vast war casualties and devastation. Who do Palestinians blame?
- Israel (Jews at large for running the world)
- Netanyahu, including "for funding Hamas"
- America (all of it, Dem Biden, Rep Trump, everyone)
- The anti-Israel UN
- Arab governments, especially wealthy Gulf ones (except for Qatar which has bought ever Palestinian and therefore Qatari emir can shake hands with Israeli president and get away with it)
- Arab voices calling for introspection, arguing that Palestinians should build a government (Israel can't do it for them), win Israeli trust, declare whatever state (if Fatah and Hamas can ever agree on one)
Conclusion: Over 100 years of conflict, you'll never hear Palestinians admitting mistakes (unless political rivals are thrashing one another). Did Palestinians make bad choices ever that got them here? Of course, not.
To almost all Palestinians, it is engraved in stone that a better future is only possible through the revival of the past, but which past? Ottoman rule? British rule? Imagined Palestine?
Question: Can Palestinians cut their losses and dig themselves out? Of course, not, because shaming the world for their own chaos always feels better.
Now this is where it hurts most: You debate with ultra smart and achieved Palestinians, hedge fund managers, CEOs in multinationals, Palestinians who can sniff success and are always pragmatic enough to cut their losses and walkaway from a sinking ship. Most of these Palestinians become someone else when it comes to Palestinian introspection. Suddenly, they start waxing poetry about dignity, pride, martyrs, children, etc. As if Palestine is a fairytale issue, not an issue of managing the public affairs of 10 million Palestinians.
Good morning, world!
A truth that no Palestinian will ever admit:
In 1948, during the Declaration of Independence of the state of Israel, David Ben-Gurion extended an invitation to the Arab inhabitants of the region.
He appealed for peace and coexistence, urging them to remain in their homes and become active, equal contributors to the development of Israel.
Most did not take his advice, opting instead to follow the Arab leaders' suggestion to temporarily leave their homes during the conflicts.
They believed the conquest of the Jews would be swift and that, following the destruction of the young State of Israel, the entire territory would be theirs.
Sadly for them, they met with bitter failure
Of course, the Arab leaders ignored the Arabs who fled, leaving them in refugee status without assisting them in finding a permanent solution.
In contrast, the Arabs who stayed now hold Israel's blue identity card.
As equal Israeli citizens, they constitute 20% of Israel's population today and enjoy all the benefits that the State of Israel offers. (As detailed in the post I will share in the first comment.)
And the Palestinians?
They envy the Israeli Arabs.
Not one Palestinian wouldn't swap their Palestinian Authority's green identity card for Israel's blue one.
(I can already predict that their comments will say the exact opposite, but we Israelis, Jews, Christians, and Arabs - know the truth.)
🧵IDF soldiers broke protocols tragically killing hostages with white flags. Key question is why soldiers may have thought they were a threat? Because of at least TEN Hamas war crimes which greatly impact IDF actions, especially in Shejaiya where this occurred. Here they are: 1/
1/ There are no other constitutional rights in substance without freedom to transact
Being meaning to write this for 6 months, but the Canadian response to the trucker protests is illustrating this so vividly, that today is the day.
