🇷🇼 As the Africa CEO Forum 2026 opens its doors in Kigali, @afrika_jean, CEO of the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), sets out why the host country is once again at the centre of Africa's most consequential business conversation. Rwanda's pitch is not ceremonial but strategic: a trusted, neutral and efficient environment where deals translate into partnerships, and where convening leaders is part of a broader ambition to position Kigali as a hub for investment, logistics and services.

🌍 His diagnosis of Africa's central challenge is unflinching. The continent counts 1.5 billion people across 55 countries, yet only a handful of those markets are home to more than 50 million people. The opportunity is enormous, but the connective tissue is missing. Without new transport corridors, energy systems, logistics platforms and digital infrastructure, the continent remains a collection of national markets rather than the integrated continental market its size should deliver. This is exactly why the 2026 theme of scale and shared ownership matters so much: turning fragmented potential into operational reality demands capital, cross-border thinking and partnerships built to last.

🔗 Rwanda's contribution rests on three pillars.

1/ Execution: over the last two years, RDB has recorded more than 5 billion dollars in investment commitments, proof that predictability and speed of decision-making are themselves a form of de-risking.

2/ Regional integration, because as Jean-Guy puts it, "Africa's scale will not come from national markets acting in isolation."

3/ Platform-building, where hosting convenings such as the Africa CEO Forum becomes part of a coherent strategy to bring decision-makers together and move ideas to implementation.

Today, the Right Hon. Prime Minister Dr. Nsengiyumva Justin, the Guest of Honour at the 9th @RwandaPolytec graduation Ceremony, addressed graduates on the rapid transformation of the global economy driven by technology and innovation.
He noted that the nature of work, communication, and industry is changing at an unprecedented pace, creating both opportunities and challenges for young people entering the workforce.
He highlighted Rwanda’s early and deliberate investment in technical skills, innovation, and practical education as a cornerstone of national competitiveness and transformation, with continued focus on TVET as a driver of job creation, industrialization, and economic resilience.
Encouraging the graduates, he urged them to embrace adaptability, creativity, and lifelong learning as essential tools for success, reminding them that they are well prepared for the future and fully supported by their country as they step into new opportunities.

🇰🇪 H.E. Dr. William Samoei Ruto arrives in Kigali with a message the continent has been waiting for.

🔙 Just days ago in Nairobi, co-hosting the Africa Forward Summit alongside President Emmanuel Macron, Kenya's Head of State drew a line under decades of donor logic and called for something far more ambitious: an Africa that finances Africa. He pointed to over 4 trillion dollars in long-term domestic savings already sitting on the continent, including more than 1 trillion in pension and insurance assets and over 500 billion dollars in central bank reserves, and asked the only question that matters. Why are these resources still waiting for someone else's permission to build the continent?

💡 His answer is structural. Through Kenya's National Infrastructure Fund, already capitalised at around 1 billion dollars, he is testing a model designed to crowd private capital into the corridors, ports, energy systems and digital backbones that will turn the AfCFTA from protocol into market. The thesis is unambiguous: "Africa cannot trade effectively with itself while its economies remain disconnected."

🌍 In Kigali, that same conviction lands at the heart of the Africa CEO Forum 2026 conversation, where pan-African ownership, green industrialisation and the mobilisation of domestic capital are no longer side debates but the main stage. From the Silicon Savannah he has helped engineer to the climate finance reform he has pushed through every multilateral forum that will listen, President Ruto embodies a generation of African leadership that has stopped asking and started building.

🎯 His presence on the presidential panel sets the tone for two days that will define how the continent moves from 4 trillion dollars in potential to 4 trillion dollars in motion.
