পুলিশ সূত্রে জানা যায়, গত ৮ জুলাই বিকেল সাড়ে ৫টার দিকে ৬ নম্বর ধামোর ইউনিয়নের যুগিকাটা গ্রামে বিরোধপূর্ণ জমিতে চাষাবাদকে কেন্দ্র করে স্থানীয় জাকির হোসেনের সঙ্গে অনিল পাল ও তার স্বজনদের বিরোধের একপর্যায়ে সংঘর্ষের ঘটনা ঘটে। এ সময় কালীমন্দিরে থাকা একটি মূর্তির মাথা জাকির হোসেনের গলায় ও হাতে ঝুলিয়ে সামাজিক যোগাযোগমাধ্যমে লাইভ প্রচার করা হয় বলে অভিযোগ ওঠে। পরে ‘Shanto Pal’ নামে একটি ফেসবুক আইডি থেকে ঘটনাটি মন্দির ভাঙচুরের অভিযোগ হিসেবে লাইভ সম্প্রচার করা হয়। খবর পেয়ে পুলিশ ঘটনাস্থলে গিয়ে পরিস্থিতি নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনে।

পুলিশের প্রাথমিক তদন্তে জানা গেছে, প্রায় ৬ একর ৬৬ শতক জমি নিয়ে দুই পক্ষের বিরোধ দীর্ঘদিনের। রাম প্রসাদ পাল ও নরেন্দ্র পালের উত্তরাধিকারীরা ১৯৭৭ সালে জমিটির নামজারি পান। পরে প্রতিবেশী লক্ষ্মীচরণ ও ধনেশ্বর ওই জমির মালিকানা দাবি করে ২০১৬ সালে দেওয়ানি মামলা করেন। মামলার রায়ে অনিল পক্ষের পক্ষে সিদ্ধান্ত এলেও পরবর্তী আপিল এখনও বিচারাধীন রয়েছে। অন্যদিকে নামজারি সংক্রান্ত আপিলগুলো বিভিন্ন পর্যায়ে খারিজ হওয়ার পর সর্বশেষ ভূমি মন্ত্রণালয়ের সিদ্ধান্ত লক্ষ্মীচরণের পক্ষে যায়।

পুলিশ জানায়, কয়েক মাস আগে লক্ষ্মীচরণ তার দাবি করা জমি স্থানীয় জাকির হোসেনের কাছে বিক্রি করেন। ঘটনার দিন অনিল পক্ষ ট্রাক্টর দিয়ে জমি চাষ করতে গেলে জাকির বাধা দিলে উভয় পক্ষের মধ্যে সংঘর্ষ বাধে।
পুলিশের তথ্যমতে, বিরোধপূর্ণ জমির মধ্যে অবস্থিত কালীমন্দিরটি কয়েক মাস আগে নির্মিত হয় এবং এটি নিয়ে স্থানীয়ভাবে বিভিন্ন ধরনের বক্তব্য রয়েছে। বিষয়টি তদন্তাধীন বলে জানিয়েছে পুলিশ।

হিন্দুদের সংঘবদ্ধ হামলায় আহত জাকির হোসেন বর্তমানে ঠাকুরগাঁওয়ে চিকিৎসাধীন রয়েছেন। তার শরীরের বিভিন্ন স্থানে আঘাত এবং একটি হাড় ভেঙে যাওয়ার তথ্য পাওয়া গেছে। বর্তমানে সে আশংকাজনক অবস্থায় রয়েছে।
