Even with technology, scientific advances, etc., human needs haven't changed. We all want to be loved, accepted, and appreciated. This is true of students & adults. Remember education isn't really about being student centered or learning centered, it is RELATIONAL centered.
Principals, you don’t have to know it all. In fact your job is easier when you realize that you are surrounded with staff that may be smarter than you in some areas. Draw on their strengths. That shows you value them, but it also shows that you are a confident leader.
Teachers love Admin who:
1) roll up their sleeves to help
2) Really Listen
3) Who are present: in classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, lunchroom
4) Value Teachers time (planning, meetings, after school)
5) Support/encourage them
6) check on/ check in with them
7) Have their back
Someone took a chance on me and hired me as a teacher... and then as an AP... and then as a principal. I am grateful. We all have benefited from those who took a chance on us... who believed in us!
@AshleyKayDoty I’ve been blessed to have countless influential female figures in my life, but my grandma was hands down the best. She exemplified kindness, love, grace and faith. She went through so much in her life, but always had such a peaceful demeanor ❤️
5 Things to Remember This Week:
1) You are stronger than they think.
2) Your heart is bigger than they know.
3) You have more in you than they can see.
4) Your positivity is greater than their negativity.
5) You are more powerful than their opinions.
@AshleyKayDoty I feel like if I say I need words of affirmation, it’s sounds a lot better than I need validation from people but...it might be the same thing 🤷🏼♀️ definitely a growth area for me!
@AshleyKayDoty I feel like validation has more of a negative connotation; where as affirmation is more positive. If I’m validating someone’s feelings, I may not agree with them but I let them know they’re valid. If I’m affirming someone, I agree with how they feel.
Veterans have always been near and dear my heart since both my parents served 20+ years in the USAF. It was a treat to present our Mevers veterans with a sweet treat to thank them for their service! 💙🦅❤️
Our servicemen and women enjoyed muffins for military today in the car loop! Thank you to all our veterans and active duty military for your service! ❤️🦅💙 #MeversEagles#MoveTheNeedle#CSUSAproud@gstickel
