Tonight, the Senate finally corrects a fifty-year mistake by passing the Social Security Fairness Act.

Millions of retired teachers and firefighters and letter carriers and state and local workers have waited decades for this moment.

No longer will public retirees see their hard-earned Social Security benefits robbed from them, thanks to this bill.

#Kilauea volcano's middle East Rift Zone eruption resumed late on Sep 16, 2024, and continues this morning within a remote area of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. During the AM overflight, #HVO geologists observed fountaining & active lava flows on the floor of Nāpau Crater.

The #BridgeFire hit #Wrightwood quickly this week. The community and firefighters worked together to protect homes and lives:

1️⃣ The community was prepared
2️⃣ Residents had a plan
3️⃣ They followed it
4️⃣ #SBCoFD, @LACOFD, and the @Angeles_NF had a plan
5️⃣ Evacuations allowed firefighters to focus on structure defense
6️⃣ Homes had defensible space that helped crews save property

Thank you to the residents of #Wrightwood for being prepared.

Pyrocumulus clouds may form on top of very hot fires, like today for the Line Fire near Highland, CA. These can create very dangerous conditions for fire fighters! As of 630PM, we recorded over 3700 lightning strikes inside the clouds, with over 280 ground strikes! #cawx @NWS
