The way people look at actor Kim Soohyun is with sympathy. That is because he was made to carry an “unfair false accusation” based on manipulated information, and in reality had to stop almost all of his activities.

Recently, the situation has changed a lot after Garosero Research Institute CEO Kim Seui was arrested, indicted, and sent to trial. One is the news of actor Kim Soohyun’s official return in July, and the other is additional legal action surrounding Garosero Research Institute CEO Kim Seui.

Also, the damages lawsuit worth about 3.9 billion won filed by Frombio has had its hearing, which was originally scheduled for July, postponed to August. The court decided that it needed to more closely examine the reason for the alleged breach of the contractual obligation to maintain dignity, along with the related evidence, and will continue the hearing after receiving additional materials.

In other words, the legal judgment has not been completed yet. Even so, Kim Soohyun stopped almost all of his activities for nearly a year and carried a huge social burden. Now that his official schedule is starting again, it can at least be seen as a sign that the environment for him to continue his activities is slowly recovering.

Looking back at the past year, many people treated Kim Soohyun as if he were guilty based only on claims that had not been confirmed. But as time has passed, the legal process has moved forward step by step, while the people suspected of spreading false information are instead finding themselves facing legal responsibility.

Meanwhile, Kim Soohyun has endured a long break while preparing for his return. Not every trial has ended yet. But at least based on how things have unfolded so far, it can be seen as another reminder that the law and evidence matter more than a rushed trial by public opinion.

The saying “사필귀정” (sapilgwijong) is not about deciding the outcome in advance. Rather, it means that in the end, the truth should be revealed through the law and objective evidence.

Kim Soohyun’s return can be seen as the natural next step of resuming his work as an actor, separate from the legal process, while CEO Kim Seui will have the various legal responsibilities surrounding him judged through the judicial process.

Going forward, what matters is not emotions or guesses, but facts, evidence, and the court’s judgment. It seems necessary to keep watching until the court reaches its final conclusion.

I can’t shake this off: The contrast is hard to ignore. For one year +, Kim Sae-ron's family and their supporters were vocal in allegations and narratives that fueled intense public criticism of actor Kim Soo-hyun. Various claims were circulated online, amplified by Kimseui and some social media accounts, leading many people to form opinions before all the facts were known.

Now, with reports that the YouTuber who allegedly played a major role in spreading disputed information he claimed the family gave him, has been arrested and detained, the silence from those who were once so outspoken is raising questions. If accusations were made publicly, shouldn't there also be public accountability when evidence is challenged or when information is found to be inaccurate?

Regardless of where anyone stands, this situation is a reminder of how damaging online narratives can be. Reputations can be affected overnight, but the truth often takes much longer to emerge. Justice requires fairness, transparency, and the willingness to correct the record when necessary not just when it supports a particular side.

Kim Soo-hyun begins his comeback

Actor Kim Soo-hyun has begun preparing for a comeback about a year after completely suspending his activities due to a private-life controversy.

It has been reported that Kim Soo-hyun is scheduled to film an advertisement in July for Bench, one of the Philippines’ leading fashion brands. Kim Seui, the head of the YouTube channel Garosero Institute, had an arrest warrant requested against him on charges including defaming actor Kim Soohyun in connection with the late actress Kim Saeron’s death. He strongly denied all charges, calling the arrest warrant itself a complete fraud.

“The arrest warrant request is clearly packed with outright false facts. I admit nothing. This is an intentional and hastily thrown-together arrest warrant request.”

The police concluded that Kim Seui’s conduct was extremely poor in character, noting in particular that he manipulated KakaoTalk conversations that had been exchanged with Kim Saeron, and that he publicly released a voice recording made with AI as though it were real, without any verification.

Kim Seui was confident the arrest warrant would be rejected, but the court, finding there was a risk of evidence destruction and flight, issued the warrant. He also filed for a review of the legality of his arrest, arguing the detention decision was unjust, but the court rejected that as well and maintained the detention.

Yu Hyunjae, Professor of Mass Communication at Sogang University said:

“Beyond fake news, now I see they actually manufacture things. This person has shown very clearly just how far someone who has given up all moral standards can go in terms of the scenario they will run, and the level of crime they can commit. So I believe that to the extent society allows, an extremely heavy punishment must be imposed.”

The Garosero Institute YouTube channel has 1 million subscribers and has been making money through provocative claims and videos targeting politicians, celebrities, and other public figures. In the process, countless people have had their privacy and personal dignity violated and suffered serious harm. Because of this, the Garosero Institute has been widely condemned as a social weapon.
