FREEDOM OF PRESS: Yesterday during the sweep of Fordham University encampment, there was an attempt to fully obstruct the view through the window, with tarps and tents, which prevented journalists from fimling the arrests. NYPD filmed and released their own video from inside Fordham University.

Similar situation occurred during CUNY City College camp sweep, where all access or any visual view to press was restricted, NYPD filmed and released their own video.

This mirrors what's happening with encryption of NYC police scanners, multiple precincts are now fully encrypted and press does not have acces to it. We don't receive information on crime that occurred for many hours, sometimes days after the incident. At that time, the crime scene is fully cleared.

NYPD is the only agency that has access to documenting those news. Information should never be exclusively controlled by one agency.

Journalist access is paramount. News must be documented by multiple sources in order to provide full picture and assure that it will show all sides.
