Australia's only dedicated Bio-Engineering and Nanoscience Symposium is making its post-lockdown return!
9 December 2022 @ University of Sydney, Australia
Fresh from #AVS11, David Jacques @SingMolSci flying into @Sydney_Uni@beansymposium to deliver his keynote address... preaching the lore on how viruses have the coolest geometric tricks to make biological nanoparticles #BEANS22
Well done to our @beansymposium student organising committee - these are the people you brought together from across Aus
#BEANS22 is an amazing all-student-run and student/ECR-focused grassroots meeting covering diverse topics across bio/ nano engineering! Until next time...🫘
I presented my first poster at @beansymposium today and had an absolute blast talking cool science with cool people. Getting best poster was also a pretty awesome bonus.
Thanks to all the organisers, I look forward to the next one!
As #BEANS22 comes to a close, let's give all our presenters some love - tell us what your favourite presentation/poster was and why! It can be for any reason - something helpful to your own work, pretty slides, excellent presenting skills or just some cool science 😎
Denzil - applied science doesn't happen without basic research. We still need funding to happen for that kind of research. But in applied science you need to think - what can this science actually do in the world?
Careers panel with David Smith from @SydneyIncubate, Rupal Ismin from @sydknowledgehub and Denzil Furtado from Messenger Bio is underway! Well put some of our fave takeaways below, feel free to add your own.
Rupal - if you want someone to make introductions for you, make it easy for them! Give them a short intro or a link to a profile so they can pass it on easily to the right people
Posters up, student organising committee ready, #BEANS22 at @Sydney_Science@Sydney_Uni is on today!
Looking forward to hearing lots of great BioEngineering And NanoScience talks from our students and ECRs 🫘
Kicking things off with a fab talk on #biomolecular condensates by @Yi_Shen_! Remember, if you're attending online (or just feeling a bit shy) feel free to jump into discussion with the hashtag #BEANS22 or in the comments below ⤵️
Only a few more days until #BEANS22 - everyone should have received schedules by now, so if you registered and haven't gotten one, get in touch via DM or send us an email. Hope you're as keen as we are!
Just an FYI that if you submitted an abstract for a talk or poster for #BEANS22, we'll be letting you know the outcome of your submissions within the next few days - apologies for the delay, we do realise it's short notice for some of you!
Symposia are more fun when you know other people there - we're going to be introducing the organising committee so that there's at a few familiar faces!
First up we have @LachlanAdamson1, who's doing his PhD at @SydneyChemistry in @YuHengLau's lab.
#BEANS22
Next up, we have @sbpulsford who is completing her PhD in the @Jackson_Lab with Prof Colin Jackson at @ANUChemistry, and has given us maybe the most relatable answer to "what is your favourite bean" so far ☕️
Great news for everyone who forgot the deadline (we've all been there) - it's just been extended another week! This is the last extension, so do make sure your abstracts are in by Nov 16!
