Sean, if I was only thinking of myself I would just say nothing. It would be much easier but the interesting thing for me is the verbal attacks from gay people. Proving to some extent that these accusations of community are just a farce. The question I would ask you is what are you doing because it seems performative and desperately trendy. You seem to have no mind of your own. You and I are not friends. I have nothing to explain to you but why don't you post what you truly think about Jewish people rather than having an ethereal conflict with me? As a gay man you say zero about Africa where gay people are experiencing great pain and hostility. 30 African countries have criminalised our community. Yet you stand up for a country that brutally raped and murdered innocent people and I promise you they would laugh at your support.
I have no beef with Palestinians and I pray as a buddhist that peace comes to the Middle East. Neither you or I will shift the needle and despite being told by 'gay magazines' that I am loosing my audience, I am driven by something much deeper and simple.
This young beautiful girl in the picture is May Hayat who was at The Nova Festival, her friend was murdered and she escaped. We are standing in front of wall of people who were killed. All of them are peaceful, dance music lovers who would dance to your music. If anyone should be ashamed it should be you. Shouting 'Free Palestine' might seem noble to you but history will show you how wrong you are. Even if I was only 'doing it' for Philip Sallon' who fucking hates me or Jon Moss who tried to bankrupt me, I would still do it.
At this point I should say I hate Netanyahu but I don't. What would you do if the people you were elected to serve and protect were slaughtered, raped and brutalised. Had they not been stopped on Oct 7, it would have been the best example of a genocide.
Why not shout about Ukraine because just like Isreal, Ukraine was attacked.
I am not anti muslim because I understand that what happened on Oct 7 was about as ungodly as anything can get. People are not bad because of what they are or what god they seven but because of what they do.
I don't know you, so you hating on me means zero.
You sent a message that was lacking in any intelligence and frankly you don't deserve a response. For a Pisces you appear to be lacking in perception and where is that innate kindness?

If a country sitting on a rock in the North Atlantic comes to regard a conflict nearly 4,000 kilometres away as more important than almost anything else, it is worth asking why.

I like Ireland. It is a small country living next to a much larger neighbour. A country that has never been afraid to speak its mind or stand on its own feet. In that respect, it reminds me of something.

But Ireland's apparent obsession with condemning Israel at every opportunity is not healthy. Especially when many of the arguments involved turn out to be the same exaggerations, distortions and manipulations that have long been commonplace in Middle Eastern politics.

Why is it not the starting point of public debate in Ireland that Israel, as a state, has every right to exist?

Why is it not the starting point that Israel has repeatedly been attacked by opponents who have never reconciled themselves to the establishment of a Jewish state nearly eighty years ago?

Why is it not the starting point that the current war began when Hamas committed the worst massacre of Jews since the Second World War on 7 October 2023?

Why are so many people in Ireland willing to accept even the most extravagant accusations coming from the Palestinian side, while showing remarkably little interest in hearing the counterarguments?

And then there is the critical question.

If Israel were to lose this war against Hamas - an outcome that some voices in Ireland seem surprisingly relaxed about - what exactly would follow?

Hamas is not a liberal democratic movement. It is an Islamist movement whose ideology has far more in common with groups such as ISIS than with any Western political tradition. An Israeli defeat would be celebrated as a major victory by Hamas and by the Iranian regime, a regime that has spent decades repressing its own citizens and destabilising the wider region.

I do not believe that many Irish people genuinely wish to see Hamas achieve its political objectives. Nor do I believe that many Irish people would welcome a major strategic victory for Iran.

Or rather, I hope not.

Because if there really is a large majority in Ireland that believes a victory for Hamas and Iran over Israel would be a positive development, then the discussion should no longer be about Israel alone.

It should also be about Ireland itself - and about what role Ireland wishes to play in Europe.
