@PeacemakingSt You can have knowledge and still lack wisdom and discernment. It’s written Satan was(is) clearly knowledgeable with scripture too wasn’t he ? Why even bother reading it when you don’t believe it ? You already have another Gospel and the real Books of Moses and Abraham right ?
@Primary_Pianist If Joesph had of stuck with just the BoM and maybe D&C’s he might have fooled a lot more people. This “Other Testament” leads direct to the pearl of great price and the origins of another God. BoM may just sound like an unverifiable testimony, but it’s really gateway reading.
@realDrTT There’s a big difference between fearing someone and fearing for someone. If you are a true follower of Christ you should never fear the truth. I think in my early prayers and meditation this is what I wanted. The truth has always challenged the ways of this world, stay humble.
@Primary_Pianist The important detail of Bethlehem is the connection to David and prophecy back to Micah from around 700bc. It might seem like a close guess for someone on the other side of the world but details are important when it comes to Gods word.
@LostMyHats I think they’re too clever/ignorant to actually lie. They claim non cannon and infallible prophets. They have to believe what they’re saying.
@Primary_Pianist It’s a simple generic warning from a man who knew the scripture and law well enough for Jesus to intervene. Yes it was aimed at a specific issue in a specific place but what would Paul have said to Joesph claiming Man is as God once was ? Honestly, what would he have thought ?
@MCrobison@CapturingChrist If I don’t understand that makes two of us cause I agree with all your points. My point is it’s not a fair comparison and that one doesn’t excuse or justify the actions of the other. He was always a man who followed God, once he encountered the revealed Jesus he changed his ways.
@mayne_jon@ThenIsaugh@emuse1955@Zacbunchanumbrs I understand ought and if. I believe there’s no silver bullet or gotcha when it comes to theology. But the JS Foundation ought not represent Joseph falsely would it ? Weeks before his untimely death he makes statements like these? Claims God was a man like us ?
@mayne_jon@ThenIsaugh@emuse1955@Zacbunchanumbrs Is the Joesph Smith foundation reliable? Joesph claims to speak with the Holy Spirit and as one with Authority. The timing of his claim that the persecution against him ought cease was quite prophetic though. Physical sight is also not required to use the term “I see”
@realDrTT No because you claim to believe the accounts of the bible. The BoM claims to be a historic account of Israelites who travelled the ocean and settled in the Americas and witness a resurrected Jesus who ministered to them. That burden of proof lays on those claims not the otherway
@Jacob1832Jacob@ChristandGuitar Luke’s argument was, look at its contents and you will see it couldn’t be demonically inspired. Ethan’s position on that was that the Book itself is irrelevant because you can’t get Mormonism in whole from it so the contents aren’t worth debating. I think that’s a fair summary.
@jacksonfrandsen I would say I have tried them and their claimed revelations are not consistent with those found in Old and New Testament and therefore are to be found False Prophets. It’s really a binary question, they either do, or don’t speak for the Almighty God of scripture or they don’t.
@jacksonfrandsen It’s about reliability not blame, I pay no price for their actions. I have evaluated enough to come to the conclusion it’s not a reliable text like the Book of Mormon. With your superior knowledge have you found reason to believe Muhammad is a prophet and from the Quran?
