@PivotPod@karaswisher@profgalloway I enjoyed the discussion about Amazon + OneMedical. They launched Amazon care for telemed and bought PillPack. It’s about healthcare for their own employees. Employers are the payers in US held system - they want to optimize their own costs, then sell to other employers.
@bce01002 @AnnforSFboe I don’t give a s**t what you think, in any case. I want the Ann and the Board of Ed to be more rigorous than you when evaluating data. I also want anyone who reads your mean tweet to know that there are other SFUSD parents who are more supportive. Do better. Peace out.
@bce01002 @AnnforSFboe I’m providing examples for why your assertion that absenteeism = lack of value for education is wrong. If you want to solve problems, look at barriers and address them. Don’t judge whole groups of people based on one stat. It’s wrong and harmful, it’s also just lazy.
@bce01002 @AnnforSFboe So you get lucky in lottery and get a great school, but Muni could take more than an hour to get you there. Some ARE DOING THE MOST to get their kids to school. Stereotyping people as not making efforts to attend, this not valuing education based on stats is a misuse of data
@bce01002 @AnnforSFboe There are many possible reasons for absenteeism in these populations. Most recently, people have been getting infects with COVID! These populations are more likely to work outside the home, increasing their risk.
@bce01002 @AnnforSFboe Judging a large group of people as not valuing education is literally a stereotype. This is why that judgement coming from a Board of Ed member is so problematic. Further, the data say no such thing. You are projecting that judgement onto the data.
@bce01002 @AnnforSFboe It’s more nuanced than that. You can’t draw broad conclusions from quantitative data. If you want to solve problems, you look@for underlying causes.
@bce01002 @AnnforSFboe Please also understand, the last two years have been immensely challenging for people. Teachers were out a good portion of the year. At mg kids’ school, there weren’t enough subs so classes were combined. Much of the time, there was little point to my son actually being in class.
@bce01002 @AnnforSFboe I made sure he had books, access to a computer, and him Python. I am fortunate and privileged, so I could do these things. But also, I value education.
@work_matters@karaswisher The DirecTV DvR is the worst product. Slow performance, the channels you want hidden in an ocean of pay-per-view obscurity, and you have to pay to rent the POS from the company. I ran to steaming as soon as it was feasible.
