God forbid a 19 yo is still in shock after going through something that nearly cost him his life. some people here and on fb seriously needs to stop creating false narratives and stop turning a real and difficult situation into some kind of soap opera play
As we pray for healing and justice, we stand with our Ateneo Blue Eagles against those who hold on to false & imaginary narratives, and who feed off their trauma and mental anguish to spread inaccurate info, post baseless content, & to show a disgusting level of insensitivity.
@LumeireGreen613@peanutbuttercup i wish they didn’t have to speak up publicly, but people were sending death threats and spreading false narratives that they wanted this tragedy to happen. even after sharing their side, some still used it against them. close-minded people suck.
wdym “why only now?” they’re victims too — traumatized survivors. it takes time to process something this devastating and a week isn’t enough to heal, yet they still found the courage to speak up. GIVE THESE PLAYERS A BREAK. wala silang kasalanan.
Ateneo Blue Eagles Kieffer Alas and Sam Reyes are FINALLY speaking out about the disaster in Aurora via Pia Hontiveros’ podcast. But why only now? And why there? So no more gag order? Then again, if they spoke via a press con, Matec Villanueva would’ve controlled them.
if they still play this season, please spare them. don’t bash or boo them, and their co-athletes shouldn’t use this tragedy against them either. bc i know Rene and Divine would never want their brothers blamed for a tragedy they survived, not caused. (3/3)
yall are evil for bashing these players. their lives were at risk too—they just happened to survive. survivor’s guilt is already heavy enough. stop adding to it. (1/3)
atp, idgaf anymore. blame the management, blame the circumstances, blame whoever you want—but not these boys. they were there, terrified, holding on to each other while everything was falling apart. (2/3)
@TheGUIDON “They were not just students, they were victims as well,” a faculty member screamed, as a response to the moderator asking if the public has any questions from Bahay, Espinosa, and Bongo. | @TheGUIDON
@peanutbuttercup didn’t forget it, girl. you just have to understand that they witnessed the loss firsthand. expecting immediate explanations from traumatized survivors is unfair—they can’t explain a tragedy that nearly cost them their lives too.
Lumabas yung new drone footage when they found and tried to give cpr to rene. 😢 The other players are also there, helping in getting rene away from the water. Mas clear yung video. Kita mga faces nila. Tapos people are hating on these boys. Imagine the trauma. 😢 Pls be kind.
please stop blaming the players who survived the tragic accident. they are not “privileged” victims who were saved because of their backgrounds. they witnessed the loss of their teammates and are now carrying the weight of survivor’s guilt.
my heart goes out to the entire bebob community, supporters both old & new. beyond the situation itself, i know that no one truly understands the weight of what we’ve been feeling better than each other.
this is our one big fight. 🫂
According to news reports, Kieffer Alas and Kyle Gamber allegedly swam back to the shore, not rescued.
please stop spreading false narrative that they were rescued because they were “rich.” these players are already dealing with enough grief and trauma as it is.
all of the baterbonia siblings are now ateneo de davao scholars for the rest of their lives. you cannot repay the lives lost but you can make life easier for those left behind. meanwhile you cant even give straight answers, @ateneodemanilau
I know this is hard for Coach Tab and the rest of the coaching staff, but at the end of the day, it was negligence, and no matter how painful it is, they are still accountable.
No one is saying they wanted this to happen, but everyone wants justice to be served.
