I almost joined the IDF at 18 and entered college and became a president of Claremont students for Israel. AIPAC conferences, the works.
Then I learned more of the story.
Changing positions is scary and brave. There is a loving Jewish community here for you as you evolve.
I think there’s a group of people who spoke in support of Israel early & are now seeing Israel for what it really is, but don’t want to be seen changing positions
It’s okay to just say you didn’t have all the info at first & now you stand with Palestine 🇵🇸
Seven months (!) of writing in one tweet: Terror is always wrong. Revenge is not a strategy. A child is a child is a child. Release all hostages now. Let the aid flow. Neither the Israelis nor the Palestinians are leaving. Without hope for a shared future, this does not end.

It’s remarkable the number of leaders right now blaming solid ICs for “not working hard enough” when the real issue is the leader’s inability to set a clear goal.
There is clear evidence Hamas has committed sexual assault against Israeli women. That is not a justification for ethnic cleansing, collective punishment, genocide, or even war. Justice for sexual assault victims will never be killing innocent people
Terrified of what, airstrikes? Snipers? Abduction? Carpet bombing? Torture? Hellfire missiles? White phosphorous attacks?
This is embarrassing. Stop centering Jewish feelings during a Palestinian genocide.
It’s just incredible to see both soldiers who think it’s a good idea to post stuff like this *and* civilians who agree and want to share it as far and wide as possible
The world has never, at any point in history, been a safe place for Jews. Israel's mission is to make it safe, and until then, to provide a safe haven within it.
Rally in Tel Aviv demanding a ceasefire. Huge pushback now from Israelis who do not believe the “to destroy Hamas then you have to destroy Gaza” military strategy is going to get the hostages out alive, nor will it achieve anything positive.
The Headquarters of the IDF is in the middle of a busy commercial district in the middle of Tel Aviv.
Something something civilian human shields something something.
It’s not that difficult. Nothing, absolutely nothing, that happened on October 7 could ever justify the barbaric massacre of 30,000 Palestinians, the complete obliteration of Gaza’s infrastructure, homes and neighborhoods, or plans to push 2 million Palestinians out of Gaza.
Around 1,800 Gazan families have lost many members in the war. As one researcher puts it, "The social and familial support of the past – material, emotional or symbolic – is almost nonexistent now. People are mainly in survival mode" / Amira Hass

Claiming calling for a ceasefire is antisemitic is saying Israel should be able to kill 10s of thousands of Palestinians & displace the majority of Gaza w/o criticism from the world community. Israel is a state actor. Calling for state violence to end is what we’re supposed to do
October 7 was a heinous crime. But how many Gazans must die, how many ministers must promote ethnic cleansing, how many failures must Netanyahu deny for the U.S. to reconsider its support for the war being waged by his government? | Opinion | @djrothkopf
