Another record set this afternoon. Today is the first time solar exceeded 31 gigawatts in Texas (or anywhere in the US). Broke the previous record by a full gigawatt. Solar provided over 50% of demand for 4 hours and over 45% for over 7 hours. Records via @grid_status.
New record in Texas / ERCOT with 83% of demand met by solar and wind this morning. Renewables providing >70% all day long. Batteries are charged up for the evening. #txenergy
@catosterman When Darcy was younger, I always included that on her pre-game pump up music list on the way to games. It also included Get Back Up Again from Trolls, How Far I’ll Go from Moana, Let it Go, Defying Gravity, and Satisfied from Hamilton. But Shakira was top of the list.
New FEOC guidance that the IRS released fills in detail about how to calculate whether a new power plant or storage project and solar, wind or battery equipment made in a US factory contains too much Chinese equipment to qualify for federal tax credits. https://t.co/YopwowHpTI
Two new solar records today in Texas/ERCOT:
🏆 first time over 30,000 megawatts
☀️first time over 58% of supply
Quite the progression:
2015: 500 megawatts
2017: 1,000 megawatts
2021: 5,000 megawatts
2022: 10,000 megawatts
2024: 15,000 megawatts
Feb. 2026: 30,000 megawatts!!

@Loop360Project Only having two lanes exiting westlake drive is a complete disaster. Will a third lane be added so there is a left turn, straight/left, and right lane?
There's a new all-time renewable generation record in ERCOT with solar & wind combining for 46,320 megawatts today, good enough for 60% of demand most of a high demand (~77GW) day. Beats the old record by 3,000 MW! Wholesale cost of power is very low despite the heat @ ~$20/MWh.
