Telpochcalli’s principal, Gabriela Núñez, grew up in Little Village, began her career in the neighborhood and stayed.

Now, after Telpochcalli’s first year as a Sustainable Community School, that same commitment is helping create more opportunities for students and families.

The Sustainable Community Schools initiative is about investing in neighborhood schools, community leadership and the people who have been doing the work all along.

This is what it looks like when we grow from within.

🙀 In Japan, a cat has become the official station master

In Wakayama Prefecture, at Kishi Station on the Kishigawa Line, the position of station master has been taken by a cat named Yontama. The appointment was made fully by the book — complete with a formal ceremony and an official certificate.

The fluffy “manager’s” duties include greeting passengers, taking part in events, and creating a good atmosphere at the station.

And that’s not all — two other cats have been appointed as her deputies.

The tailed crew is confidently clawing its way to power. And honestly, it’s easy to see why — they look far more pleasant than most officials.

Meanwhile, in Japan, kitty cats are receiving promotions as Stationmasters for railroads.

Japan has a new stationmaster cat. The Wakayama Electric Railway Kishigawa Line is famous for its feline stationmasters. A new cat, Rokutama, has been appointed trainee stationmaster of 2 stations.
Other cats received promotions. This is serious stuff.

Oh man. It's been a year. Tony is one of Chicago's greats. A powerful artist who mentored many other beloved artists in Chicago. His political commentaries which we used to be blessed with in a weekly column were incredibly insightful. I'm really going to miss him.
