I was just reading about the growing trend of colleges/unis offering reduced-credit 3-year Bachelor's degrees. I don't have enough characters to explain why this is a terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad idea.
@megha_lilly Yeah, the visual clutter would drive me nuts, but in at least one state, if posters are on the wall all year, they are considered to be "part of the educational environment" and are allowed to be up during state testing.
@chrisbrunet The department and its weary professors (probably adjuncts) will be blamed for high failure rates, threatened with non-renewal of contracts, and pressured to make passing easier in the name of meeting retention and completion goals.
@chrisbrunet I used to teach developmental/remedial math to college students. This does not surprise me. Students panic when asked to round or handle fractions (#14-17), can't manage substitution and operations with negative numbers (#27, 28, and 30), and probably answered x^2 + 1 to #29.
