Potatoes are now treated with delicacy in my home and their presence is always well accounted for. I am not making this mistake ever again. So yes in case you didn’t know, rotten potatoes are particularly nasty and far worse than any other rotting food.

I will never forget the incident of forgetting about a bag of potatoes during a heatwave while pregnant, only to find it rotten into a pile of black goo. It stained the counter green and smelled like what I’d expect a rotting body to smell like. That’s when I learned about this

In 2014, Mikhail Chelyshev entered his cellar where the potatoes were stored because. However, after entering the cellar, he collapsed and died.

His wife and son went to check what had happened to him, they also collapsed and died.

Their 68-year-old grandmother called for assistance, but she descended into the cellar before help could arrive.

Unfortunately, she faced a similar fate, collapsing and succumbing to death.

The family made the mistake of storing their potatoes in their enclosed cellar and allowing them to decompose which caused highly toxic fumes to develop.

Mikhail’s 8-year-old daughter, Maria Chelyshev, was the only one who didn’t enter the cellar and so she survived.

Wish more hospitals even had perinatal mental health units, the weeklong stay in the regular psych unit 7 days postpartum without seeing my newborn at all was hell. There is no winning for new moms who just need some help.

@deadseaweed @thisishannahkim I went to two universities and at the first, most professors wanted to be referred to by Prof. or Dr. depending on their title, and at my current school I have always used first names because that is what is asked of students! It’s very dependent on the school in that regard.
