Nathan’s favorite bee fact is: Did you know that bees can fly up to 20 mph and beat their wings 200 times per second?
Leighton’s favorite bee fact is: Goldenrods are important nectar sources for pollinators in the fall. Many people mistakenly believe that goldenrods cause allergies, but they are innocent. Those allergies are caused by ragweeds that bloom at the same time.

Leighton Reid is an Assistant Professor in the Virginia Tech School of Plant and Environmental Sciences. He studies and teaches about ecological restoration of tropical forests and temperate grasslands and woodlands.

Susan’s favorite bee fact is: Even though bees sometimes travel far away from their nest to forage, they don’t get lost! Bees memorize where their nest is by observing nearby objects and their placement as they leave.
