@richardtutt And the lack of SLT presence and absolutely zero support from SLT regarding behaviour was the reason I finally left. SLT would walk past me dealing with behaviour, outright deny there was a problem or stay in their offices despite the noise indicating there was ever an issue 😔
@RogersHistory And some schools just make existing staff cover all the gaps- what a helpful suggestion. Still it makes budgets look good and apparently that’s the key to management looking good
@educationgovuk This is a joke right? Take a look at retention rates and you’ll realise you’ve missed the boat. Most of the experienced practitioners have realised their mental health is much more important and have left for pastures new. Too little too late. Also it won’t stop toxic management
The amount of teachers who say ‘if I could just have X% less teaching contact time and more free periods than I do now, I would LOVE my job, but as it is, I can barely stay afloat’ is staggering.
Significantly more PPA/free time would absolutely be the game changer the profession needs.
Hi all,
Can the more ambitious among you please stop asking us to fund your NPQH courses? We already have one Needy, Pathetic, Questionable Headteacher, we don’t need anymore.
Thanks x
Hi all,
Tomorrow’s twilight CPD is the one we had to postpone from September so that our CEO could rant about exam results for four hours. So, meet in the Main Hall at 4pm for “Ice Breakers - Getting To Know Our New Staff”. Actually almost all of them have left.
Thanks x
@NewbieSlt I presume the first order of business is to give heads of department more things to do and take nothing away from their existing very long list?
Hi all,
To show our appreciation for all the hard work you do, we are going to get the pupils to clap for two minutes during each assembly. This will be instead of any pay rises over the next year. It seemed to work for the nurses.
Thanks x
Hi all,
Just one more exclusion will trigger another Ofsted inspection, so can you please start to be more lenient to our less-than-cooperative pupils. Turn a deaf ear to their swearing, a blind eye to the violence and theft and we’ll all be OK for the rest of the year.
Thanks x
Hi all,
As we care about your Well-Being and Work Life Balance, we have decided that, from September, you will no longer be required to respond to any Academy emails between the hours of midnight and 5:30am. At weekends. Unless it’s marked URGENT. Obviously.
Thanks x
@RuthKRobinson@richardtutt I wish the school I worked in had continued the hard work of others- it made lessons so purposeful and had a genuine impact on staff well-being. I never would have left teaching completely had it not been for the slow decline of standards in what was once a great school 😔
@RogersHistory Life. Tax. Pensions. Savings (what are they). How to set up house. How to clean. How to budget. How to live within your means and work for what you want. Almost requires some sort of ‘big brother house’ type scenario
