Please also be alert to flash flooding potential tonight. Many areas have received torrential rain. Road washouts are possible and water is often deeper than it appears! Just north of Winnipeg (e.g. Stonewall) has already received 150 mm+ (6 in +) and counting. #mbstorm
Note: The storms SW of Winnipeg are actually a bit stronger than indicated. It is currently raining heavily on the weather radar which is causing some of signal to be attenuated, making the returns look a bit weaker than they actually are.
If you are stuck in your car:
-Do NOT leave your vehicle. You can easily become disoriented in the whiteout conditions;
-Run the engine about 10 minutes every hour for heat;
-Clear snow from exhaust pipe;
-Make sure Flashers are ON; and
-Other recommendations below.

Top Notch Canadian Prairie Shelf Cloud of the Year or CPSCoY. Shot by drone. Tracking a severe threat this afternoon into the evening for central Manitoba with tornado potential. #mbstorm@MyRadarWX@MisheylaIwasiuk
This is why today's heat was especially dangerous.. Manitobans have not been acclimatized to hot humid weather so far this year. Such a sudden burst of heat and humidity with humidex values of 45 can be life threatening without proper hot weather precautions.
