Mikalai #Statkevich hasn't been heard from for almost a month, since he refused forced deportation from #Belarus and was taken back into custody by security forces. We are calling to prevent the worst.
@johnpcoale@StateDept - we respectfully ask for your attention and support.
Today I met Belarusian political activist Siarhei Tsikhanouski. My full statement:
Today, I met with @tsikhanouski_s - just three months after his release from political imprisonment in Belarus. This is a man who just 100 days ago was living in complete solitary confinement, in horrific conditions, after being illegally detained. His bravery and resilience should be an example to us all.
As Belarus Caucus Co-Chair, I have worked for more than 5 years to help facilitate the release of Siarhei and the more than 1,300 political prisoners who remain behind bars. Siarhei is an example of courage, conviction, determination, and more than anything else – love of his homeland. He has consistently stood up in defense of the values he and the entire Free Belarus movement support. I know we have Siarhei’s support as we continue to advocate for those who remain behind bars.
While Siarhei was imprisoned, his wife, Sviatlana, advocated on his behalf and on behalf of all Belarusians who detest the brutal Lukashenka regime. In March 2020, as Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Europe, Sviatlana testified before the Subcommittee in her first public interaction with the United States government. Then, and now, she continues the fight for a Free Belarus. I am so grateful that Siarhei has now rejoined her on this journey.
Belarusian authorities hold thousands of dissenters hostage, many of whom are held incommunicado.
On the Day of Solidarity with Political Prisoners in Belarus, we honor the courage of Belarusians unjustly imprisoned for exercising their fundamental rights. (1/2)
Today, on the Day of the Political Prisoners in Belarus, I continue to demand the Lukashenka regime release the more than 1300 political prisoners held unjustly behind bars. Last week, I met with Tatsiana Khomich, the sister of detained opposition leader Maria Kalesnikava. The regime's weakness stems from the strength of individuals like Maria and Siarhei Tsikhanouski. The US stands in solidarity with political prisoners in Belarus and we will not rest until they are all released.
Thank you @USRepKeating for the statement on #Belarus Freedom Day and your unwavering support! We are happy to have you as our Representative in the Congress.
#BelarusFreedomDay
Happy #Belarus Freedom Day to all Belarusians across the 🌍! We are very grateful to the city of #Boston & @MayorWu for recognizing it with a flag rising ceremony! This was our 3rd flag rising in Boston so let's hope it will continue being a good tradition.
#BelarusFreedomDay
#Boston City Hall will host the raising of the white-red-white flag, the national flag of free and democratic #Belarus, as part of the Belarus Freedom Day celebration. The event will feature a special proclamation from Mayor Wu.
Tue, March 25 12:30PM.

Every American I’ve heard from today is embarrassed, including a lot of veterans, by this draft-dodging commander in chief who wants to sell us out to Putin and be Putin’s puppet.
The U.S. appeasement of Russia & the abandonment of Ukraine at the UN represents a sad day in America. On today’s 3rd anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, let’s be clear: Russia started this war and we must stand with Ukraine as it defends freedom and democracy in Europe.
Today is International Mother Language Day! A day to celebrate linguistic diversity and the importance of preserving native languages. Each language carries history, culture, and a unique way of seeing the world. In today’s video, we’ll share some fascinating facts about the beautiful Belarusian language!✨
Belarusian American communities and organizations condemn the sham presidential election held by the Lukashenka regime in #Belarus on January 26, 2025. Belarusian people did not get to choose a president.
Today's "elections" in Belarus were neither free nor fair. This week, I will be introducing a resolution with House Belarus Caucus Co-Chairs condemning this fraudulent Belarusian election and expressing continued support for the Belarusian democratic opposition. #ЖывеБеларусь
🧵For over a decade I’ve been watching with growing disbelief as Western capitals de facto abandoned any effort to compete for influence in #Belarus, all but ceding it to Russia’s sphere of domination—without much thought given to the strategic implication of this outcome.1/7
Step into history and honor the legacy of Tadeusz Kosciuszko-a revolutionary hero, champion of liberty & bridge between nations. On Feb 2nd at 9 AM gather at the iconic #Kosciuszko Monument in #Boston Public Garden for a casual 5Kish run celebrating his bday marked on Feb 4th! ⬇️
The Lukashenka regime’s ongoing detention of political prisoners including journalists demonstrates the regime’s continued disregard for the citizens it claims to represent. My full statement on recent arrests in Belarus: https://t.co/ZbBR3DgaKj
Wishing everyone in Belarus & around the world a joyous & peaceful Christmas🎄🎁. May this season bring warmth to your hearts, strength to your spirits & the hope that unites us in even the darkest times. Together, unbreakable, we will keep striving for freedom & justice. 🤍❤️🤍
Raman Bandarenka was murdered 4 years ago by the regime's thugs – I remember that day vividly. No Belarusian will ever forget it. We can't bring him back, but we can do everything to prevent more deaths. And we can bring those responsible to justice for their crimes.
