BASIC GYM HYGIENE:
1. Always go to the gym with mint gum or menthol sweets. You can never catch me at the gym without TomTom or mint gum in my mouth, pocket, or gym bag.
2. Brush your teeth before going to the gym. This is non-negotiable.
3. Always take a personal hand towel. The towels provided by the gym are for wiping down equipment, not for your body.
4. Don’t wear the same gym clothes again until they’ve been properly washed and dried.
5. Air your gym shoes in the sun as soon as you get home. There is absolutely no reason your gym shoes should smell.
6. Wear deodorant. A light, fresh perfume is a nice bonus, but don’t overdo it.
7. Whether you showered the night before or not, shower before heading to the gym. You’re about to share a space with other people.
8. Dress to impress yourself. Treat the gym like your runway. When you look good, you feel good. And when you feel good, you train better.
9. Wipe down every machine or bench immediately after use. Don’t leave your sweat behind for the next person. You’re not a wild animal.
10. Wash your hands before leaving the gym. You’ve just touched equipment used by hundreds of other people. Don’t take those germs home with you.
11. Don’t rewear gym socks. Change or wash them after every workout. They’re one of the biggest reasons gym shoes end up smelling.
12. Moisturize your skin before heading out. Don’t show up looking ashy just because you’re going to sweat. Apply your cream, fix your hair, and look put together.
