Good gesture by the driver.
However all the language related skirmishes happen in Bengaluru because such gestures have been taken for granted for a long time by people who come here for a living.
Rayachuru Dalit girl raped and murdered in a horrifying incident. 💔
I urge @PriyankKharge and @DKShivakumar to immediately intervene and instruct the local SP to take swift action, ensure a thorough investigation, and arrest the accused without delay.
Justice must be delivered. No compromise. 🚨
ಐದಾರು ಕನ್ನಡ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳು;
OTT ಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬೇರೆ ಭಾಷೆ ಸಿನಿಮಾ ಗಳು/ ಸೀರಿಸ್ ಗಳು ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಡಬ್ ಆಗಿ;

@prajavani

Because ಪಕ್ಷಿ and ಹಕ್ಕಿ are both legitimate Kannada words and are used depending on context. That does NOT make ಪಕ್ಶಿ correct.
ಶ and ಷ are distinct sounds. In ಪಕ್ಷಿ, the ಕ್ಷ (ಕ್ + ಷ) cluster has a specific articulation. Replacing ಷ with ಶ changes that cluster; it isn’t some harmless “tweaking of spelling.”
Borrowing words and having synonyms is one thing. Inventing spellings because they look convenient is another.
Language evolves naturally; it doesn’t mean every personal spelling experiment becomes Kannada. 😭😂

@godbole_shilpa Non vegetarian food. In contrast it is very hard to find a restaurant serving Jwari Bhakar or Jhunka Bhakar in localities like Wadgaon Sheri.. Anand Park and surrounding neighborhoods..
@godbole_shilpa Also if you think Poha is a native Pune snack, i guess you are wrong. Coz we do prepare Poha in our homes. But we call it Avalakki/Gojjavalakki that is all.. We do have lots of Vada Pav and Pav Bhaji joints in Bengaluru. Also we have Savji hotels which serve Maharashtrian
@godbole_shilpa I don't get the point you are trying to make Ma'am. I remember having eaten Dosa on JM road long back in 2007. Even then it used to be called the Davangiri Loni Dosa though the correct spelling is Davanagere. Loni has been replaced with the original Kannada word for Loni - Benne
Ram Ramaswamy is one of India’s finest scientists. His much-awaited biography of a father-son duo who were intellectual titans of 20th century India is now out.
The father Dharmananda Damodar Kosambi was an itinerant scholar and a polyglot who contributed immensely to our understanding of Buddhism. His influence on Dr. Ambedkar is evident but he also impacted Mahatma Gandhi as well. Dharmanand was also influenced by Jainism and gave up his life on June 4, 1947 at the Mahatma’s Sevagram Ashram through sallekhana which involves voluntary fasting to death.
The son Damodar Dharmananda Kosambi was an unusual polymath and made pioneering contributions in diverse areas like ancient history, mathematics, numismatics, archaeology, and interpretation of Sanskrit literary classics—to name a few. He was one of the early stars at TIFR along with Homi Bhabha and one of the earliest public advocates of solar energy and that too in the late 1950s. He was also an indefatigable peace activist and unrepentant Marxist.
Ramaswamy’s book is no hagiography because both men - especially the son - were also controversial. But of their sheer brilliance there can be no doubt and Ramaswamy does full justice to them.
Except for Tyagaveera Shirasangi Lingaraj Desai and Raja Lakhamangouda Desai, no other individual contributed as much of their personal wealth towards building and strengthening the educational system in North Karnataka as Mallappa Gangappa Shintre, a native of Kurli village in Nippani taluk.
In 1813, he donated ₹18,000 towards the establishment of Karnataka College, Dharwad, the first institution of higher education in North Karnataka. The LEA Fund, Dharwad, contributed another ₹25,000 towards the same cause.
Later, responding to an appeal from the British Government, Shri Mallappa Gangappa Shintre donated ₹50,000 towards the development of primary education in Belagavi district.
The contributions made by Shintre became the foundation for the growth and establishment of several educational institutions. It is unfortunate that there is so little awareness about this remarkable philanthropist. The estimated present-day value of these three major donations alone would be around ₹300 crore.
Apart from these, Shintre made numerous other donations, and the list of his philanthropic contributions is quite extensive. British records document many of these contributions. The institutions that came into existence through his generosity have helped build the lives and futures of hundreds of thousands of people. Remembering such a great benefactor is the least we can do.
A book published by the University of California in 1914 contains comprehensive information about Mallappa Gangappa Shintre and his contributions.
