“Historians aren’t really sure what the Millennial Whoop sounded like. One description was that it sounded like a foxhunt yip mixed with a banshee squall.
An old Millennial was invited to speak before a ladies’ society dinner, and they asked him to demonstrate the Millennial Whoop. He said he couldn’t do it sitting down — it had to be done at a run — and besides, he couldn’t do it with a mouth full of false teeth and a stomach full of food.”
@NYCMayor Defending free speech is important but I personally don’t think anyone should be admiring people who associate with orgs that post “death to America”
@StevenFulop@SolomonforJC the polling place at the Blaine Apartments for E-2 only has one functioning machine. The line to vote is almost an hour long!
@eaconner@StevenFulop You’re getting very testy! There are actually people aside from the residents who think that we should follow the city’s master plan. I wouldn’t be opposed to doing away with zoning like Houston, but why do we have it if it doesn’t mean anything.
@eaconner@StevenFulop I generally think we should be pro-development, we're in agreement there, but granting use variances for amorphous benefits (jobs, vibes, etc) is not good policy
@eaconner@StevenFulop The board chose to disregard the zoning because they thought a hotel would be better for the community than apartments. The community (through zoning & master plan) decided they wanted apartments over retail. This isn't something minor like setback or side yard.
@eaconner@StevenFulop I'd say the lawsuit is asking to reverse the approval, not just delay. The developer is free to design and build a 6 story apartment building above retail as of right that will provide housing and jobs to the city. there's so many more battles far worth your time
