I think a really great way to understand how the general public views museums as nation-building tools is to look at how fake museums are used in theme parks.
We are LIVE with a #GivingTuesday celebration!
We’re talking about chemistry, biomimicry and, oh yeah, we are opening a time capsule from 1999!!!

Happy Halloween! To celebrate, 🌱biologist Jason Thomas and I made bioplastic algae strings from @TheTechInteract using 🎃pumpkin purée as the base. We made it into a spooky “gourd”-ian knot/pumpkin!! @CorinneTakara@biophilebytes
Put some science in your spoop! You can add all kinds of ingredients when you try out our newest #biotinkering at home activity, Algae String. I had a blast finding all the things in my kitchen that can fluoresce!
Halloween at home: grab a UV light and go on a scavenger hunt around your house for fluorescent ingredients to make your algae string SPOOKY. Hint! We found turmeric, laundry detergent and peanut butter (😮) fluoresces. ✨✨
It’s the hot new bio thing, we call it... "ALGAE STRING."
In this activity you will use polymers made by algae and a bit of chemistry to create your own custom string!

This is a great post on “airborne" & and why we need to rethink our comm on it. “A major problem plaguing this discussion is the false dichotomy between “droplet” & “airborne” transmission that we use in healthcare settings (for simplicity of messaging..” @dan_diekema
When talking about decolonizing science, I often get asked what that would look like?
I should have known (and love) that the answer to that question is @Glamrou.
@Nycteris We use oolong tea @TheTechInteract because it was the one that the staff decided smelled the least bad.
Ranking of tea smells from best to worst, poll of ~30 people: oolong, white, black, green
You could try a different tea to see if the smell improves?
