If you own it, you should have the freedom to fix it!
President Trump just signed a new Presidential Memo protecting Americans’ freedom to fix their own vehicle if they so desire. The President’s action also combats cheap foreign aftermarket vehicle parts while also breaking up the monopoly the California Air Resources Board has had over certifying aftermarket parts. This is an idea from the top when President Trump called me one recent Saturday night saying he wants this Memo drafted, signed and implemented at Trump Speed instantly.
The Trump EPA has been making tremendous progress at US ports to ID and stop illegal foreign chemicals, HFCs, uncertified knock off aftermarket vehicle parts, and much more. I was at the Port of LA meeting with @EPARegion9 inspectors and their counterparts at Customs and Border Protection where they are working diligently on this important mission to halt the importation of illegal foreign pesticides and other threats to American families.
NEW from @epaleezeldin: Moving at ‘Trump Speed’ to Cut Red Tape, Make U.S. Energy More Accessible
More pipelines are on the way. More relief is on the way. We are entering a GOLDEN AGE of AMERICAN ENERGY. 🇺🇸
My visit back to the Palisades and Altadena hit differently this time. There is SO MUCH more construction now as more insurance payments are resolved, permits are approved, and new beginnings are realized. At President Trump’s direction, EPA has been honored to be extremely active on the ground every step of the way to help recover and rebuild.
Grow2Zero Farms in Long Beach, CA, is doing amazing work tackling food waste, feeding hungry neighbors, and helping veterans with PTSD. Inspiring to see their efforts in person, which is very much in line with the goals of EPA’s Feed it Onward program to reduce food waste across America.

Visiting the Palisades and Altadena fire areas these past two days, the greatest sound was from all the hammers pounding away as thousands rebuild their homes, lives, and community. Our work certainly isn't yet done, but the progress is simply awesome. President Trump has consistently made it clear to me to do everything in EPA’s power everyday to help the cause and we have been proudly hard at work to do our part to assist.
Back in Altadena, California, today with LA County Supervisor @kathrynbarger where there has been incredible progress rebuilding homes, families and dreams. @EPA remains committed to doing everything in our power to continue helping in any way possible.
Alan Wilson has been a fantastic Attorney General in South Carolina and he’s going to be an even better Governor.
Proud to call him a long time friend and fellow Army officer built of the highest integrity, and unyielding selflessness and love for his state and country.
A once in a lifetime celebration of American greatness is almost here, and it begins on the National Mall. Salute to America on July 4th in Washington, DC, will mark 250 years of independence with world-class music and a record-breaking fireworks show. 🇺🇸

To do my job effectively at EPA, it is important to leave D.C. and see firsthand the issues Americans are facing in their communities. Last week, I was in Nome, Alaska to do exactly that. From the leaders at Kawerak to the Denali Commission, the Port of Nome, Graphite One Mine, and Nome’s mayor, I heard directly about the ways EPA can better support them. It was a very meaningful trip, and it will help inform the decisions we make back in D.C.
This week, I visited the Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility, the state’s largest wastewater treatment facility. Their operation is serving half the state and supports the nearby military base.
Alaska has unique opportunities, but it also has unique challenges. After meeting with Governor Dunleavy’s team and industry leaders, many Alaskan priorities were clear, including the need for reliable energy for the state and relief from burdensome Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) system failures Alaskan truckers face in extreme cold.
The Trump EPA is working to reduce regulatory barriers for Alaskans. We’ll continue working to support Alaska’s way of life by unleashing domestic energy and supporting new critical infrastructure to move it, and use all available authorities to address DEF system failures.
